I don't think it matters....its ruby Skye, I don't think anyone cares about the attached promoter. People will go see chris lake next Friday, doubt anyone will say,.dang I like.him but its Spundae,.i'm not going. If you like chris lake, you'll go see him on the 21st.. Same with behrouz the next night, doubt fans of behrouz will boycott BC its not Spundae |

If I remember correctly, Spundae did teamed up with Skills to throw some parties on Saturdays, in 525 Howard. I heard the turnouts were pretty bad, and they couldn't continue. Now 525 Howard had been torn down....But that is another story.
However, promoters do play some roles, otherwise the club wouldn't hire them. A while ago, Ruby Skye severed ties with Christian Presents, SolyLuna and some other promoters, they had some very slow Saturdays. But it only took them a few weeks to sort things out. |

You're absolutely correct. I just like Spundae as a promoter better. |

I think that's it. Ruby is big and reliant on out of towners to fill it up. On saturday plenty of people will come to ruby just because its "Ruby Skye". This happens on fridays as well of course, but having big names to help draw is more necessary and those names are getting more and more expensive to book on friday nights. The european festival/ibiza season + contracts for Beyond Wonderland can't be doing anyone any favors either. |

It's been tough to get people to come out on Fridays in SF for 10+ years. A lot of the crowd comes from down south (Fremont, Santa Clara, San Jose, etc) and from conversations I had, they like to chill local on Friday nights and do the city trips on Saturdays.
The scene overall goes up and down and the crowd goes with it. What you are seeing going on because of this is a lot of smaller venues are doing well with the smaller parties. But they are much more of the VIP, douchey type of parties I used to not like Ruby Skye because of (I couldn't stand the crowds at Ruby at one time).
