Have touchy subjects like religion and politics driven a lot of people away from TA?

Clearly a lot of people on tranceaddict are passionate about what they believe and stand behind and have very strong minded opinions. Sometimes things get really heated and feelings get stepped on and people's buttons are pushed. Sometimes it's nice to have long detailed discussions/debates but it can also drive others away. Have touchy subjects/topics driven people away? Is this the case on TA?

Nick? Is that you?

??? I can't recall any heavy religion or political (95% of people in TOTA seem to be on the same page, Harper) threads of the sort in the last few years. So no, no I don't think so at all.

There was a guy around who posted many nonsensical and irrelevant threads based on things absolutely nobody cared about though. He'd keep them going on and dragged out to the point that yeah I'm sure it turned people away from the board that were already on the fence.
Intangible
No idiot trolls and the people who feed them have driven most people away

It's an open forum. Discussions of any nature are completely relevant.
The ability to discuss such topics freely is something we shouldn't take for granted. We're lucky we live in a society that allows & gives us such freedom to do so. Keeping silent & refusing to speak openly about touchy/taboo subjects leads to ignorance. There is a high chance people won't agree, and that's fine. I've always welcomed a different perspective and point of view if we can discuss things in a logical, civil & respectful way.

I don't think that "touchy" subjects are driving people away from TA. Its the fact that some people move ahead with life, get careers, kids and move somewhere else. Get other priorities. Post less, or log off altogether.

Or, they stop posting because there's too much ego on TA these days. You start a thread about David Guetta and people go ape against some poor guy who likes his music. I know this might hurt some people's feelings, but elitism and personal attacks / circle-jerking runs aplenty on TA, unfortunately. Thats what drives people away ... to more useful things in day-to-day life.

5 years from now the last remnants of people on FB after everyone else has moved on to bigger and better things will be making the same comments about what pushed or pulled people to other online venues.

In this day and age, most people could give a less about religion or politics.

^ I agree.

For the most part you can post anything on here... that is what makes TA both loved and hated at the same time. :)
