Which Mp3 Player is better?

I'm posting this here, cuz I couldn't think of where else to post it.. So if any moderator doesn't like it here, please move it for me. :)

I'm looking to get a portable mp3 player to use while I work out and stuff. I want to know if anyone has either of the following players, and if so, what they think of them, or if they can recommend me one.

Note, I'm looking for a small player that using flash ram, rather than a discman, as I've determined that just isn't practical. (Note also that I'll only be using it with headphones, as I already have an in-dash mp3 player fo my car.)

The 2 that I'm looking at are both 128 meg ones:

RCA RD1080 MP3 Player ($249 at Futureshop)
(rca link)

Samsung YP-30SH MP3 Player ($329 at Futureshop)
(samsung link)

After taxes, these are about $100 different in price.

Thanks.

check out the ChromeX, and the SlimX....

really good stuff...

Looks like your more interested in a harddrive mp3 player. Which personally I think is the best way to go. However, 128 megs of ram kind of sucks. And the technolgy is quickly changing.

I'm in love with my iPod... 10 gigs of harddrive space and is as small as the models your considering.

iPod Link

Of course price is a big issue and its pretty expensive (I paid $549 + Tax). But its also falling fast and I'm sure competitors will be around sooner or later.

Choose wisely :p

i 2nd this motion .. have one myself (SlimX) and itz great..

or u could wait till they release smaller versions that play off those smaller cut 210 MB CDz.. take that MD !!

and u cooould do with a HD mp3 player as Az mention .. but u'll be kickin urself hard in the ass if that were to ever fall outta ur pocket on the bus or somewhere outside hehe.. the iRiver player is under $300 and less of a liability in case of theft or damage..

i bought a chromeX and i payed 150 canadian. amazing cd player.

the slimX which is even better is 240.

they include blue backlit screens etc. and you can upgrade the software on the cd player, by just downloading the software, burning it on cd and running that cd in the cd player. So let's say you have a slimX and they put an installation file for upgrading the program for compatibility with let's say the mp3PRO or vorbis .ogg format for music files, all you do is d/l, burn and upgrade... oh and with hard drive mp3 players you can only put so much on them...with cd's you virtually have no limits...

If I were you, you should ask if anyone one owned any of those products so they can tell you first hand how they are. Check out websites for reviews and product features. never hurst learning more stuff about what you buy ahead of time.

buy a minidisk player.

and MP3 player?
You made a huge mistake in the start - you weren't thinking!

MP3 Player - limited to 64-128MB of memory and extra memory cards are too freakin' expensive!

MP3 CD Player - affordable, but still kinda big... and use a lot of batteries.

MiniDisc player - small, affordable, uses 74/80min MDs that are cheap as hell and small too, the newer SONY models can run for 50+ hours with a single battery... not to mention all the cool features, like deleting/adding songs on the fly (NetMD feature).

you should seriously consider a MiniDisc player bro... if that's not your cup of tea, however, then stick to SlimX MP3-CD player, cuz that is the SHIIIIIIT!

if you ever buy something like a cd player from future shop get the extended warranty (like 3 years) cause these things are so fragile and in any case you can still destroy it and return after 2.5 years, they'll give you something similar at the same price range. imagine the mp3 technology in 2.5 years :)

I had a soul player and now its not working anymore (because i dropped it while runnig to catch that *%&#*^ bus). cd mp3 players are the way to go... cds are like 40c each and you can transport about 10 hours of music with you.... don't forget those long 2-3 hours set that a minidisc or regular ram players can't handle :D

the only beef i have with MD is ATRAC3.. there is totally no technological advantage to it !! MD'z would sell like crazy if they had a built in mp3 algorithm .. but noooooooo.. Sony has to protect their COPYRIGHT interests !!

why do you think u can't simply drag and drop an mp3 onto an MD disk media if the MD is digital itself.. and yea i know about OpenMG drag and drop but itz not like copying a file directly. the ATRAC3 compression is used as a recording firewall. maybe someday someone wil be able to come up with some kind of MD EPROM hack to support an mp3 algorithm an that'll be the day that MD takes over (North America) more appropriately. but until then it has a long way to go..

And wait till iRiver comes out with a smaller version of the SlimX that plays off of smaller 210 MB CDz then it'll have :

the size of an MD
plays just as long if not longer
and fit more music on a single disk at a higher bit rate..
(as of now NetMD can only record SP at 4X! but they advertise 32X but neglect to mention that itz at LP4.. who wants to listen to songs at a sub 112k bitrate if that's the tradeoff at recording at 32X??)

Bottom line is that mp3 compression is much better than ATRAC3 compression which essentially only exists to preserve copyright laws.

I'm sure some of the stuff i've said here is wrong .. and if it is, please educate me, i only seek more enlightenment on this .. :]
