Here's a classic example of that below. I'm reading the youtube comments and people are going bananas over it for some reason that is unknown to me.
I mean, the kick drum alone is just obnoxious. That's also my main problem with most of what Dettmann and Klock produce, its hard and heavy but its boring as . I've given it chances on many occasions. No groove is a deal breaker for me.

Yeah, that track is rubbish. But while Dettmann & Klock's stuff isn't exactly revolutionary it's way more varied than people give them credit for and incredibly well done. I always feel like people that say that Ostgut's output is nothing but hard pitch black techno haven't actually listened to their catalogue for more then 5 minutes.
Like, listen to this track recently released by Fengler. It's way ahead the curve, nobody else makes stuff like this.

I'll listen to the track at home on my legit speakers to give a fair take. But I do feel this way that you describe about Ostgut. There was a point in time where I owned probably 20 of their releases and since then I've sold most of them off. I used to look forward to their releases and now it just feels boring. I dont see any use for it outside of a festival or Berghain. The only saving grace that I can find in Ostgut's output is the tracks with melodic pieces in them. The raw stuff is just too much.

Maybe you just don't like straightforward techno? I think their stuff is perfectly fine headphone music. Their stuff really isn't all that heavy. Vault Series is a label that makes heavy techno.

That's a fair statement, but that Speedy J Catwalk set that got posted was straight forward techno w/ a groove that I could really get into. I like Speedy J a lot as a producer as well.
