I don't understand why you're giving this guy a hard time.

To answer your question as best as I can, check out the production forum. I think there is a lot of knowledge there, not so sure about the activity though.

Ok, thanks!

No one is going to help you, when your so vague about your plans. Are you going hardware or software route? If so what software? Ableton\logic\fruity loops\reason\garage band\cubase\renoise? Do you plan on just using samples or making original sounds from vsti and plugins? Look into vsti and a good keyboard\drum pad midi controller if you plan on trying to produce with software.

Djing is pretty straight forward and easy. Do it like everybody and SYNC SYNC SYNC. You'll be a superstar dj in no time.

I'm vague because I don't understand really anything about it and I'm having a hard time finding like a central place to go where I can just read about it. I know a DJ who uses Ableton so I just figured that's what I should use. I asked him for help but he hasn't gotten back to me. I would like to be able to use samples and also create my own sounds as well.

I'll read about vsti, but what sort of controller do you recommend? and by controller you mean like a turntable right?

Also, MIDI is to producing what DMX is to DJ lighting, correct? If you know anything about DJ lights anyway.

So basically any MIDI controller will work with Ableton? To produce music, should I first learn how to mix like how to beatmatch and stuff, or is that unrelated?

BTW that tutorial master list the other guy gave me is very informative and helpful!

I advise you to spend a while just listening to the music and getting familiar with it. There's no point in trying to make or play electronic music if you're brand new to it.
