That's very nice, guys, I rather understand the letter and the spirit this law is attempting to preserve, I'm just saying that sexual innuendo ought not be considered disruptive unless it is directed at an individual, in which case it can be a form of harassment. Read the speech- not a single obscenity or vulgarity was uttered. Everything considered lude or disruptive (yeah right) was in a form of (albeit juvenile) subtlety, and so existed in the minds of the audience, not in the speaker's words.
This is nowhere NEAR the same thing as yelling bomb on an airplane or fire in a crowded area or even inciting violence with hateful rhetoric, all of which do indeed cause an observable disruption. This was the Supreme Court making an understandable ruling (that the school has the right to censor genuinely disruptive speech, that's fine), that applied to a nonsensical case to which the governing body (the school) was allowed to dole out disciplinary action over something entitled to the student.
I'm not saying the ruling in essence was bull, I'm saying that their support of the school's own actions in this particular case are a breach of rights, and a pitiful example of the Supreme Court issuing baseless morality clauses because SEX AND SUBTLETY ARE SUCH UGLY, UGLY THINGS. |

| I was just in a staff meeting last week where some software engineers from F-Secure (the new company we're partnering with) spent about 20 minutes just talking about how badly McAfee sucks. |

There is nothing in the constitution that says you can not be punished for saying or doing stupid things. For example libel and slander, you have the right to publish those things, but it doesn't mean you can't be punished for it. These are all pretty clear cut cases. |
Indeed, Free Speech doesn't exempt you from being held responsible for the stupid you might say, but the First Amendment does protect you from the state itself taking action to censor or punish you, barring special provisions like certain forms of hate speech or inciting panic in public places.
If this was a Public School, was it not almost entirely funded by the state? When does a public institution's agency delineate itself from being constitutionally culpable? That's what the heart of this case addresses, and I disagree with the Supreme Court's verdict, for this particular case. |

Yeah, it's really pretty unnecessary . If MS Security Essentials nuked (so to speak) Stuxnet here on our source machines at work, I just don't see why you should need anything else, unless you are super paranoid or the data is magnificently sensitive. |

Microsoft is notoriously slow with keeping up to date with the newest virus definitions. Stuxnet is relatively old in that regard. It's really pretty sad, since Microsoft has the largest database of malware information in the world, but they still aren't the best when it comes to beating the latest bugs. F-Secure, Kaspersky and BitDefender are the best ones out there right now.
Businesses tend to vary which companies they use for which systems they're securing. For instance, we use F-Secure for all of the workstations, but our email servers use SEP, which tends to work very well. |

Yeah, you have a point there. We use Kaspersky on some of our field laptops, because the brass seems to think they all need to be lavishly expensive lolol.
But I guess for large businesses, the constant support and virus definition is top priority. But Norton and McAfee and such probably market mostly to home users, so lol if you pay for that stuff on your leisure PC. |

Yeah I get free F-Secure subscriptions through work, but as long as you have half a brain it's really not necessary to get paid AV software for personal use.
Norton does have a huge home user market, but they also work a ton with businesses with stuff like Symantec Endpoint Protection, which I mentioned earlier. McAfee is just awful in all regards. |

| Or you could just get a Mac since they don't get viruses :toothless |
