Could it be that trance music is making a comeback? For the past 7+ years, we've accused trance music of being cheesy, predictable, commercial, and pop-music sounding. We associated trance music with candy raver kids, etards, and glow sticks. But don't you remember how good trance music made you feel years ago?
Most of us met our closest friends, our first true love experience, and had our most memorable experiences because of trance music. It was trance music that brought us together, when most people didn't understand our passion in music. But we drifted away from trance, because of the bad turn it took years ago. We discovered other genres that fulfilled that void, and we never looked back at trance music again.
Recently, I've discovered that trance music has stepped it up. I suggest you give trance music a chance again, for old times sake. You, too, might discover that it's actually pretty enjoyable (again). You can trust me, I know what I'm saying. I'm not some bimbo groupie go go dancer wanna be ;)

Welcome back! It never left actually, but you had to look a little harder for the good stuff. :)

Well said! And yes it is still alive and kicking thanks to artists like Indecent Noise and Bryan Kearney. Not to mention classic sets from 2002, that I still play in heavy rotation.

I can't believe it. Miss Julia saying something positive about trance! ;)
I agree with everything you said, except I never left. Trance was my first EDM love(started late) and I never stopped listening to it. Some may say that I never grew up or that my musical taste never evolved, but what can I say; I still enjoy it.
The music has changed, but I think no genre ever stays exactly the same. You can still find some good trance like we used to listen to years ago.

I agree trance has always been good, its just better known as progressive psy trance. About the only guy I can always rely on to bring some proper trance is J00F. He never gets old.

Vocals can go off, that isn't trance

Trance has been alive for the past 7+ years, just not the you hear at massive festivals and on the radio. The underground true trance that is in it's purest form will always be around. It's just a matter of searching and going beyond the depths of the underground to find it.
It won't discover you, you have to discover it.

yeap, there is still good trance out there. As everyone said, you have dig around. kind of like techno many years ago, the representation of techno that you heard was horrible (IMO) and not until some really good producers and dj's came along did people understand that techno was the !
i still like teasing trance headz though. bunch of loserz!

Chicane has never left my Ipod rotation at home or at the car, and I'd still fly them in if I could afford them since they are a band.
I've always never really left trance like Julia. But contrary to those who say, trance never left though, it did weaken tremendously. A perfect indicator was a recent conversation I had with John Acquaviva, who is a resident DJ with INCOGNITO and who is a part-owner of Beatport. I said, "So I guess trance is still the biggest selling genre at Beatport right, with them still dominating DJ Mag?" and Acquaviva replied, "No, its one of of the slower genres of recent years, based on sales at Beatport. The biggest currently, of the last 2 years ago, is...tech house."
Just some food for thought.

The more I hear people say trance sucks, is all generic, cheesy today the more I enjoy it :happy2:
