It's like you're unable to get over the fact you started listening to dance music at a young age and have dealt with the inevitable condescension by trying too hard to appear knowledgeable and hip. You clearly don't realise it, but you talk exactly like a member of the tech house wanker crew, except without the decade of trance remission and cocaine use to give it a veneer of jaded plausibility. You were ing around on CDJs at 13? Nice one, save it for your DJ biography. You'd appear a lot more knowledgeable and cool if you ever posted something informative and insightful, rather than just swaggering around sneering vaguely at people. |

There are hundreds and hundreds of great DJs in this world who cannot get a gig playing in front of people because they don't play the bull game of sucking up to promoters, fiending for Facebook fans and likes, having one "signature sound" they play at every gig or releasing their own terrible productions to build a profile. I know quite a few myself. It is always ing bull when you see someone in the DJ booth who has no business being there, and these children are little more than a circus show. You may as well train a couple of chimps to mix and then play back-to-back, because the novelty factor would bring even more morons through the door and drive up bar profits.
And no, this doesn't speak for every single party, but it's a pretty good focalisation of something that's happening all over the world. The field of DJs has become massively over-saturated and diluted, and talented music lovers are being denied a fair chance by novelty acts who don't get the basics right. I utterly fail to see what is "cool" about this. The fact you don't seem to be aware of this issue, and are dazzled by a couple of kids redlining every mix (when as L4C says, there are child prodigies who can play instruments at the highest level), tells me everything I need to know about your knowledge of "the scene". You may have shuffled around on a couple of LA rooftops at 122bpm, but that doesn't mean you know jack . |
