besides all the qq'ing it's pretty legit.
there are some pros and cons but for the most part I wouldn't go back to win7 at this point
pros
- fast as , boot and the overall user experience seems quick. seems like a really well built os
- taskmgr pwns now - it is so easy to see what is slowing down your computer and whats going on. love the changes they did to it - ill post screens in a bit
- windows games got a serious upgrade (minesweeper and pinball are ridiculous)
- lots of hey we ed this up in win7 lets fix it in win8 improvements all around (ie. lots of folder tasks when browsing in explorer have been moved around and made more easier to find and the windows explorer seems baller when you hit the alt option)
- supposedly a ton of improvements under the hood i dont really care to list about here but for network nerds is big time
cons
- the apps suck (surprise) but there's potential for it to really take off if the developers step their game up. im pretty sure the next windows thing will completely remove the whole windows UI as we know it.
- windows updates seem forced, before we had an option to post pone, now thats changed. it just happened to me so ill look into it but i can only close the alert now and then regardless it will power down.
- when not in the metro mode or whatever the edges of the ui look like classic? the happened to smooth looking roundness (no its not disabled)
- can no longer run multiple instances of common apps (1 instance of paint wtf)
people hate change but sit down with this for like an hour or two and its not daunting at all. its really sleek. |
