Huh? My aunt lives really close. She is incapable of taking care of herself so she needs to be in a retirement/assisted living home.

When people start to show signs of dementia among multitude other ailments, there comes a point when they need 24 hour supervision and attention by professionals. There is only so much you can do taking care of family at home, sometimes. It's not abandonment when it is without a doubt in the best interests of their own health.

//And obviously her own grandson still visits her, so you're an ignorant .
OrangestO
Yea, I know all about it.

Just make sure you put a hidden camera somewhere in the room where she's staying and keep tabs on the situation.

Yea, cause visiting her for an hour per week or whatever really justifies throwing her in a home where she may or may not be abused or mistreated.

off.

Really? It doesn't surprise me a stupid like yourself would form his worldview from what he sees on 60 Minutes. Reach high, Cletus!

From what I know his family is financially secure enough to be able to bring her in and have someone come in to take care of her whenever she needs. I mean, if they're paying for her living arrangement now, they definitely are.

But wait, there's the burden of dealing with it.

It's your ing family!

Don't give me that ignorant . It's inconsiderate that leaves the sick and elderly abandoned and left to die in homes where they have the possibly of being subjected to all kinds of abuse.

Maybe you have the heart to risk that, but I sure as hell don't.

Pretty ing sad, if you ask me.

LOL

dude, yes some places might be bad....but its not every retirement community in the in world lol. its a very tiny percentage lol.

ps Grimace doesn't exist either
OrangestO
The statistics and stories are there, and staggering at that. It's not a small percentage by any means, like you might assume or think.

Google is your friend.

I admire cultures and countries where the younger generations take care of their elderly. Western society moves so fast and demands so much of its citizenry that people feel like they have no other choice but to push the responsibility onto someone else.

Does the engine start? If it starts, it's not your fuel pump.

You're right in that its immoral to put a family member into a home just because you're tired of dealing with their age. I'm with you there. If that happens, those people are s.

But life is not The Simpsons. People don't do that as often as you think. Google it yourself, or share how you've actually been there.

Nou said his Grandma suffers from dementia. It's often accompanied by various other neurological disorders. Do you have the slightest idea as to what that means? Or are you just clinging to principles because you don't know any better?

Seriously?!? I'm still mourning the loss of my grandma, who suffered from dementia for 10 staggering years before she died of cancer and heart failure. There came a point where she needed to be put in 24 he care BECAUSE WE ALL LOVED HER and she needed the medical expertise we could not provide. I was not able to visit often because it was on the other side of Canada, but my cousins and aunts and uncles were there alternating days. Not to mention my grandpa. Who held her hand through it and lived in assisted care with her until the day she died. We hired 2 private nurses who were paid well and took extra care of them. The point I'm trying to make is you have no reason to suspect that what Nou's family did was not in his grandmas best interest. Good grief
