So I either have a busted fuel pump or a shot transmission... (pg. 4)

NVM misread your post.

It could be secondary voltage leak with the ignition system. What are the weather conditions when this is happening?

Also, have you had any work done to that car, recently?

40s, rainy/sleet and I am at about 3000ft altitude (Oregon high desert). It was dry tho today.

Only recent work is an oil change I did right before the trip. When I was under there I checked everything out and didn't see any leaks.

It very well could be the transmission though 147k miles in 9 years (110k in the first 3 years) . One overhaul at 110k. It had the 2003 Honda pilot transmission recall fix applied though, so it shouldn't be related to that.

Have you tried WebMD? Sounds like AIDS.

Mate, no one ever hopes that will happen to their parents. I sure as hope it never happens with mine.

So, I looked up 2003 Honda Pilot on Chiltons and found the recall on the transmission. There's also a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) for a faulty EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve that corresponds to your symptoms. The only thing is that if it is the EGR, the check engine light should be coming on. (Sometimes they get disabled.)

If it's not the EGR valve (and it very well could be), I still suspect a secondary voltage leak issue with your ignition system.

I had the EGR issue about 3-4 years ago but with no symptoms besides the check engine light. Maybe it is that again. Who knows.

Reading a bit more about the EGR issue and they say a symptom of it is also a slight vibration while cruising. I noticed this the day before yesterday as well.

They make cars small enough to drive inside houses?

Talked to the tech and they said this morning its acting fine, which I figured would be the case. They are going to drive it around more and try and get it hotter because I think it definitely needs to get pretty warm for this to start happening. It sounds like an EGR issue more and more. When I had the EGR issue a few years back they just cleaned the valve I think and didn't replace it. The only symptom back then like I said was a check engine light.

Bah, its the transmission. :( They were able to replicate it while driving around...

I don't know though, the more I think about it I don't know how it would occur only after driving for a while.

It seems strange, since I was driving out here after first noticing it and everything seemed fine. I was doing long distance, high speed (like 60-65mph) drives, low speed city driving, rough road, steep incline driving, even backing up at high RPMs.

How much is that going to set your parents back to fix?

They better not bitch about it though
