well now, that was a set!
I almost want to repost what diabloargentino wrote after Luciano @ compound, fits.
cant see that the 1h he did at the warehouse would have evolved better.
yeah, my ears are still ringing too, that was too loud at the end.
one prob.with the four point system: you cant easily get out of range.
how you guys could stay in front of that stage-left speaker so long.
venue: a-ok. wish they had cold water taps though, left plastic in car, and ran out of cash, hot water or dehydrate...
line, same as above, couldn't have done the ga for an hour at 20F.
when I got in the door, with the old 10/12 tix, the guy was telling people, and was pissed at what seemed a BLK person, that we were on the wrong line, it was g.l. only, and we should have waited in the other, GA+ticket line! WTF?
after a very brief protest that people WERE on BLK list, he let us by, phew, but kept saying, next time do the right line.
So, thankfully no problem, but quest.:
in future, at for ex. Speedy J next week, where we will be ticketholders, is that going to be the case then.
? The g.l.line bouncer told me they always just have these two lines: g.l. and GA/tix.
that would suck major, nothing like s&b's comment about ticket line at Marquee.
now, if people would only beat-match when coming up, that would be great, otherwise its so distracting |

He played rising angle right after flutes. so it proves to me that that track flutes is hard to have a follow up. i guess it was so upbeat that he went with opposite and played rise of angel. i wanted to make a mix with flutes and i cant find a perfect song to follow up.
the venue is fantastic. well, i only have one this to say. sasha was red lining the sound. it was so ing loud at the end i had to leave as the bass was making my inside pulsate. i felt like i was going to puke.
the other thing was the ING GENERAL ADMITION LINE. WTF. it was freezing outside. how could they let that line move so slow. if you work for the venue and are reading this, well please put some more people working the door line.
other then those few rants, i would run to this venue again. such an amazing place. my instant favorite place.
they openers really set the mood for me. i like that sound a lot. as i got into the venue, which i did get inside withing 15 minutes thanks to previously purchased ticket line, i met up with ay star and diabloargentino. then with in 5 minutes the whole gang was there so i could tell it was going to be a good start. at first i did a walk tour of the venue. i fell in love. the venue gave you a nice club but yet cozy feeling. bathrooms downstairs and up stairs. same with bars. like i said no vip, so you could go to any corner. the space is all yours. the venue has a terminal 5 kind of second floor. where you could look doen at the main floor from the railings or step back few steps into a dance space upstairs. lights and decors were great.
sasha set was good. he started out strong. then at the end i am not sure if he lost me a bit or my ears were giving up and hurting me, therefore making the sound less enjoyable. think it was my ears that made me loose interest. in example when sasha dropped Benoit & Sergio - Let Me Count The Ways i was having trouble listening to the vocals and chords. and if you hear this song is does not have sub a over taking subbass to it. but last night the bassline was too muddy.
anyways, overall an amazing night. i was amongst some great and happy drunk people [i'm looking at you violethalo ;) ] . not a lot of pushing and shoving crowd. so that was good. a fair amount of females to male ratio. great opening set. said hi to CarS. sash playing howling (ame remix) was also a highlight. i was just playing that song in my car on the way there.
i rate last night a 8/10. good job!!! glad i came out |

I hear you on that bass-line pulse, prob closer to 5, there was this weird bass wosh increase, like someone was popping your ear with a air gun.
made me go in front of downstairs bar, spot filters a little.
BTW, under the right balcony, at back where people were sitting, is a corner bass trap, big thump there.
like the front bass-horn, looks very cool with the cut-out waveguides.
wonder what that's like standing right in front of.
Overall, def the best F1 implementation in the city, incl.Marquee (most other places would prob. have clipped out at those levels, here just the room being overpressured) |

What a night! Sasha delivered such an amazing set, definitely compensated for the last gig that got shut down. His first two hours were phenomenal, pure musical extacy. The openers were great as well, they built a proper set that allowed sasha to play harder tracks rather than start his set slow.
Great venue, a little smaller than I expected. Amazing sound system although it could use some tweaking. It was nice meeting diabloargentino and xpander. Always a pleasure bumping into ay star.
Next stop: Marquee hosts the wizard. |

Credit where it's due!
People didn't have too much good to say about T&F's set in October, and they tend to get short shrift because they're local.
But they showed they know how to do it yet again, nice 2+ hours those as well! |

What a fun night! Definitely more fun than Hernan on Friday. I got there around 10:15 and it took me about an hour to get in. I think that was the coldest I've ever been in my life. You can only imagine I left 85 degree weather to endure that. I didn't understand the mandatory coat check. My shirt was very sheer and I was freezing when I was trying to go smoke. A kind stranger lent me his sweatshirt bc he felt sorry for me.
I thought the opening dj did a great job setting up for Sasha. Once Sasha came on it was just nuts! I was mainly by the back speakers most of the time so I had easy access to the bar lol.
$7 shots of patron was very nice compared to the steep $20 it cost at Marquee.
Love the venue, wish we had something like this in LA for the likes of Sasha and Digweed. The bottle scene gets lame. |
