| I'd put the electronic music scene of Toronto or Montreal up against any city in the US any day of the week. We have as strong of a scene as is gets in NORTH AMERICA imo. New York might be on par with Toronto and Montreal, but that's about it. Yeah Miami is decent for a week once a year, big deal. Las Vegas pool parties with avicci don't count. |

The festival wants to make money so they can continue for year 3, year 4, etc.
You can't do that with unknown, or niche DJs. |
Obviously you're not going to be selling out a 20,000-person festival consisting exclusively of niche DJs, but there's nothing stopping anyone from having a stage dedicated to that sort of thing or at least bringing in one of two to play on one of the other stages. Its not as if these guys have unobtainable booking fees. |

Haha your a funny guy! Just look at Miami bookings on a weekly basis and you'll see the difference.
Check out the bookings at Story nightclub in Miami and see if any club in Canada compares. Stereo might come close but that's it.

Link doesn't work, but I went to their website and checked the schedule. Couple quality bookings for sure, but as a whole, nothing to write home about, in my opinion. It's all personal preference though, so I'm sure others may disagree.
Schedule:
Nervo - Not my thing
Tale of Us - Cool, were here last year.
Gareth Emery - Not my thing, plays Toronto regularly
Sasha - Not my thing
Danny Tenaglia - Not my thing
Paco Osuna - Indifferent, plays Toronto regularly
Damian Lazarus - Not my thing, plays Toronto regularly
Guy Gerber & Davide Squillace - Indifferent, individually they both play Toronto once or twice a year. |

I beg to differ. I love visiting Toronto and Montreal but the clubbing scene just can't compare to NY... we have great events going on pretty much every day of the week and on the weekends there are at the very least 2 good parties to go to in one night and on top of that there's always a couple of underground, word-of-mouth parties. Been in Toronto 2 times and once to Montreal and while I had fun, I had a difficult time finding something good. |

I think if you lived here you'd potentially think differently. We have the 'word of mouth' underground loft/warehouse space parties as well, but by nature, these types of things aren't necessarily easy for someone who's visiting for the weekend to find out about. If I visited New York (and I think New York has a great scene btw), it would be hard for me to potentially find out about those kind of parties as well. And lots of people hit multiple spots on a night out as well here ;)
PS are we talking about clubbing in general, or electronic music scenes? In terms of overall partying (bars/clubs/all genres/live bands), NY wins hands down. In terms of strictly electronica, I'd put them about level. But that's just me :) |

I'm talking electronic music, specifically techno.
I don't need to live in Toronto or Montreal to know, it doesn't take me much to find stuff out, I have resources ;) |
