Eh... it depends. My first night in NY I walked into a bar and was offered blow within 5 mins. In the scene people are a lot more careful though, there always are a lot of undercovers at certain parties. I'm one of those ppl who won't engage in that discussion if I don't know you or if someone I trust isn't vouching for you.

And whistles are frowned upon. If you want to blow a whistle, go to New Jersey or Pacha. They love that annoying over there.

What about Glow Sticks? Can you get 3 for $5? Or are they marking that up like a bunch of s?
WittyHandle
They should be a million bucks each imo

Only ppl living in the old rave age use them here. And the neon YOLO kiddie crowd :nervous:

I'm heading to New York actually on Thursday for the first time, checked out the event page and noticed Steve lawler is playing Friday and victor on Saturday, but each place is like 30-40 bucks to get in, any other show you would recommend going on the weekend?
Special K
NYC def beats Toronto in terms of options in quality venues and bookings, I don't think that can really be debated. But it's also 3-4 times the size of Toronto so it should beat us in that respect.

Salmon, I see vc is playing at output, that is one badass club. Kind of like fw on steroids (killer sound system, good layout, no bs vibe etc). I hear marquee is a pretty cool venue as well for a swankier kind of place.

hey bud, i dont know what your situation is financialy but if you dont go to NYC often or have a friend in the city to bring you to proper spots, just pay the extra cash and go... because i almost got stuck in nyc one night with no options and it can suck cause it's not easy to find a really good party especially at a value... even if you find a good party you may not even be able to get in...

but an alternative would be ceilo, i think theres a dress code on saturday and it might cost about $20 for local talent, so google ceilo, thats my best advice...

After consulting the New York thread page I came to the same conclusion, I feel like it will suit me more then Marquee, it pissed me off when I saw tickets were only $30 for girls and $40 for guys, but I realize this is common to a lot of big cities in the States especially in Vages.

Special K, really liked the description you gave about output, made it really tempting, but my hotel is in Times Square so it's a little far... Maybe a road trip later this summer will be in order to check the place out cause it sounds wicked but its still $30 and that's before mid night

Thanks for all the advice, but I feel as if this thread page is getting a little off topic now haha, not that it matters now, cause no one good has been announced since umek nor will be

New York might be on par with Toronto and Montreal, but that's about it. Yeah Miami is decent for a week once a year, big deal. Las Vegas pool parties with avicci don't count.

I agree 100%. Montreal/Toronto is spoiled, most people don’t realize it though. Always thinking the grass is greener on the other side.

Haha your a funny guy! Just look at Miami bookings on a weekly basis and you'll see the difference.

Check out the bookings at Story nightclub in Miami and see if any club in Canada compares. Stereo might come close but that's it.

Story has those bookings because A)They are new and B)They are big. They have to do that to fill the place. Let’s see what happens past year one…

I beg to differ. I love visiting Toronto and Montreal but the clubbing scene just can't compare to NY... we have great events going on pretty much every day of the week and on the weekends there are at the very least 2 good parties to go to in one night and on top of that there's always a couple of underground, word-of-mouth parties. Been in Toronto 2 times and once to Montreal and while I had fun, I had a difficult time finding something good.

Your sample size is THREE times in Canada to base your opinion. LOL. Come on now.
Even New York has off weekends. LOL. Laughing my ass off.

It’s $30 before midnight? AND?! You’re in New York, why be skimpy. Enjoy yourself. I will be in NYC that weekend too. Checking out The Junkies/Boris at Pacha and Victor at Output. The cab ride from Manhattan to Brooklyn is about 25 minutes, why skimp out on something if you’re out of town? You only live once. It’s not like they are charging $50 at the door. $30 is perfectly reasonable.

And back to the Digital point, niche DJs – why would you want to hear them at a festival? They would have to change their style to please the masses. Personally, I think a niche DJ with 500 hardcores in a club is better than hearing them in front of 5000 indifferent people.
