Ha, it's the second time I've seen them in 2013. Only went as a last second decision, glad I did though as it was a great night.

See!? You ARE one cheeky bastard :p

My greatest dilemma right now is: Should I go see Fischerspooner tomorrow, or should I go see someone else... in May!

uhhh not really sure what you guys are talking about Selma and Hal. Denver gets plenty of good DJ's coming through. You just need to be in the know :p

And nothing good has ever happened at The Church since like 2006 lol...

Sure we don't have super clubs like Los Angeles or Miami, but outside of those cities, New York, Detroit and Chicago I think we get some of the better traffic in the states.

I guess it just depends on your taste in music though....

i do agree that the times suck ass. closing clubs at 2am really blows, but occassionally we'll still get a good party out in the sticks that'll go to 5:00am-6:00am.

Oh I'm sure. We're just not interested in clubs anymore (I don't think Alex ever was). But I'm over it and have been for years.

reread your post. gotcha. yeah honestly a lot of the Colorado TA's are starting to get to that age too lol. We certainly don't go crazy anymore :p

but with that said I'm going out tonight and tomorrow night :wtf: :stongue:

There are some pretty damn decent clubs here in Brisbane, with excellent spaces and great sound. Clubbing here is generally split into two areas. There's the City area, which is generally top 40, hip hop, and mainstream pop-dance, and then there's Fortitude Valley (just called "The Valley" by Brisbanites), which is where all the proper clubs are, and is a designated entertainment precinct. Considering how out of the way Brisbane is, geographically, we get some pretty big names coming through, and quite regularly.

Our clubs are more in line with those in the UK, as far as opening/closing times go. Most clubs will open around 10pm and close at 5am. Brisbane has a stupid law though, which was designed to somehow curb drunken street violence at 5am when everyone got booted out of the clubs. Now, clubs can't let you in at all after 3am, so if you leave a club after that time, you can't be let back in, or go to another club. You're pretty much stuck, and might as well go home. It's pretty weird.

I did the clubing thing to DEATH in my youth, so I don't get that "itch" anymore. We prefer staying in or go to restaurants/bars instead, or just nice family dinners on the weekends.

I'm not opposed to going to a club if someone worthwhile comes to my area.

Where do you live again?

I live in São Paulo, and despite all the problems we have here (violence, car traffic, ing ugly city, etc...) one thing must be told about the night life here: it pulses.

It pulses like only a few others cities in the world. It's vibrant and eclectic. You can go to places and see side by side completely different clubs and venues. From lounge bars to hip hop clubs. From totally underground clubs holding DnB nights to mainstream ones. It's awesome.

Obviously compared with Berlin and London, for example, Electronic Music here is ty. But i can't complain, in the last few months i saw Dettmann at D-Edge, Ben Klock and Umek at Clash Club, Vince Watson, and DJ Marky has his own 'Marky & Friends' night, a quality Drum & Bass event. In June there will be a special event: Marky, Mixmaster Mike (The Beastie Boys), Moodymann and LTJ Bukem. Already bought my ticket. Also, Sasha and Ejeca were here but i skipped them. Not my cup of tea.

D-Edge is my favourite club. It has an intimate and at the same time a psychedelic vibe. The sound system is amazing and people from around the world can be found there. When i saw Dettmann, i met 2 germans and 1 english guy. Nice people but they were totally wasted already when Dettmann started his set.

Also, the basement at Lab Club is sick. It's where you can find the Drum & Bass.

Went to a top40 club tonight, since my date wanted to dance; had a good time, once we both got drunk, but I couldn't help but critique how ing the DJ was, afterwards. The head bouncer found me quite hilarious and informative, though, and said I should play out next weekend.

Top40 dj-ing is not that ing difficult, I don't understand how some people can be.

So does the club stay open after last call? What kind of time does the bar shut? And do international DJs play earlier or later in the night?

I've noticed that DJs tend to play much longer sets in NA, which may be because the clubs stay open for so long. In the UK it's got to the point where 3 hours is called an "extended set" and is hyped on the flyer. You almost never hear a DJ play for 4+ hours.

Afterhours Clubs open after 2am. There is no alcohol served whatsoever. Just music and dancing.

Some DJ's play 12+ hour sets way into the afternoon. Tenaglia used to play 23 hour sets at Stereo.

Adam Beyer just played an 8 or 9 hour set there.
