Just looked and most of the roads around this area are all only 2 lane roads. If EDC last year was any indication of car cluster******y, this is going to be even worse. Most of the reason why I would want to camp instead of Hoteling it. Any short drive will become a tortuous couple hours in gridlock traffic.

I would love to camp, depending on how big the area is. I don't want to be in a cluster of a camp ground, either.

I've been to this part of GA before and the weather at this time of the year was perfect.

This could be a cool trip.

Did anyone on here go to the Counterpoint festival there last yea that may have some insight as to the transportation issues we may encounter?

Was it a camping festival?

And do we know how many campers this thing will pack in? If over half the festival is camping, I can't imagine the roads to be THAT bad. If it takes an hour or under for me to get to my hotel, I'm not worried about it. About to pull the trigger on a Hotwire 3.5 star hotel near ATL so I guess I'll find out first hand if the traffic is a cluster or not

$396 (base rate) + $350 (mileage) + GAS / 7 people = roundtrip in large RV.

Hope you guys aren't planning on camping, since there are NO RV's allowed in the parking areas.

You should really move this convo to the sticky in the Atlanta sub-forum, lots of people who went to CounterPoint are there. I didnt go to counterpoint but I have already picked the brains of the ones I do know who went that actually know what they are talking about.

There is pretty much nothing but 2 lane (one lane each way) roads the whole way from the interstate from either I-20 at douglasville or I-85 at Fairburn. Luckily there is more than 2 ways but capacity is being held back only because of traffic concerns if I had a guess since the open area is more the TomorrowLand in Belgium. I expect it to be like EDC vegas traffic.

It was a camping festival last year, with only 25,000 capacity each day for the festival. It was a success in many ways considering only people from the Atlanta surrounding area went that I knew of. Every EDM fan in the area went to it. Last year RV's were allowed, THIS YEAR RV's ARE NOT ALLOWED. I suspect to make more room for DreamVille sales. This year I have heard officially that each day will have a capacity of 55,000 or 45,000 (i forget which one I heard but its definitely a real number)

Not so fast, the police are not allowing anyone to go past the exits and get within 20 miles of the festival with an RV to keep from having to turn them around at the festival. Unless you are renting from a private residence like I am then they will not let you pass, this was already told to the local residents so thats how I know that.

You had a good idea, i had already thought of it as well, many people in the Atlanta area, all RV companies are sold out for that weekend. I do believe they all have non-refundable deposit policies.
