This was excellent. As I said to you on FB it really suited a sunny Sunday. I thought the structure of the set perfectly matched the music in that it meandered like a river with the energy ebbing and flowing. I could really imagine hearing this kind of set at a festival, maybe the Glade at Glastonbury of a morning or in the Ambient Forest at Bestival.
I do think that that top room at H Bar isnt quite the perfect setting for this kind of stuff. Your idea of dipping in and out as you please is the right one but I think you need a room that can be discovered to do that properly. What I mean is a room thats at the top of some stairs or out the back down a corridor or something, not the main bar/entrance if that makes sense? Jut my thoughts, feel free to ignore them haha
But yeah, top stuff, will you be doing the same at the next one? |

Cheers for the feedback Dave. I agree about the room, but unfortunately I'm not in charge of the choice of venue. J00F did talk about moving the night to another venue, but the last two have been really successful so I think they'll keep it there.
And yeah, I think if they repeat the chill out room idea I've got the gig. I would like to get someone else in as well, because five hours behind the decks is exhausting and I don't get to hear anyone else's set.
Apparently Illuminaughty are thinking about turning the tent outside into a chill out zone in future events... hopefully I'll be able to wrangle a set there, because I think that tent is somewhere you discover halfway through the night, like a good chill out zone. |

| I listened to it in full last Friday. It was great, was particularly a fan of the prog breaks and dub techno (and of course starting with an Orb track :) ). Did a great job of drowning out my coworker's awful singing along to Nickelback! My only issue is I'd have preferred one continuous MP3 instead of it being divided up, but oh well. |

| Glad you enjoyed it. I do have it as one continuous file if you really want it like that, I just thought it'd be much more practical to split it up - I wasn't expecting people to listen to it in full, but apparently they are! |

Got through this today. I can see why you ran into trouble with this set, as it is clearly geared towards an actual chillout room of yore, not the second room of a club where people go to "dance less" than the mainroom, so to speak (even though the room was billed as the former on the flyer).
Still, going by this, you did a remarkable job of keeping the various genres together under one cohesive theme, especially considering you had to scramble to get it done on the go. The changes in rhythms and tempo are scarcely noticeable due to the constant presence of atmosphere and melodies, and it was only towards the end that the lack of beatmixing and the breakdowns started to get somewhat disturbing for me. I think you can be even more varied musically than this next time, though, considering the stuff you found out about the room itself playing there. |

| Just saw this. Thanks for listening - shame you couldn't come along to the night itself. There were only about 15 minutes at the busiest point where people were genuinely dancing... I would have liked to have kept that vibe going until it ran its natural course, but I simply didn't expect it to happen and so I didn't have the right music. I could get even more varied next time, because this is quite a safe tracklist packed with a lot of my favourite artists, but it's a question of whether that variety would be beneficial on the night. |

| I listened to the first 2 and a half hours at work the other day and it was enjoyable. Will try to listen to the rest soon. |

Took me a while to finish this but I really enjoyed it. I had a a few sections of the mix I liked. The first track up until Phochos - Glaciers felt like a space opus. It felt like it could be a soundtrack to a sci fi movie and you did a good job fading the tracks to keep it smooth.
Aural Planet - Sunfruits Avenue to Sundial Aeon - Iced Melancholy Spectacle was pretty awesome as I didn't know any tracks besides H.U.V.A. Network and wasn't expecting to some mid-tempo trance, but I thought it was mix smoothly.
Parts 3 and 4 were enjoyable but I have to skip to part 5 being that I liked all the tracks especially toward the end. I liked the transition in to Danny's Song, I forgot how great that track is.
Most tracks I had heard of but some I didn't. The highlight track for me had to be Textural Being - Tides (Part 2). I'm always looking for underwater type tracks and that fits the bill. Great track selection and programming with different genres and harmonically mixed kept this mix fresh throughout and you did a nice job changing gears.
I really enjoy your mixes because I always find quality music, so thanks for uploading these. BTW did you change the key for ASC - A Song For Hope or was it just pitched down? |
