I despise eating at restaurants alone.

This happens to me far too often, but you get used to it, though :(

Restaurants and bars by oneself is an awesome experience.

Not so much restaurants, but bars.. absolutely!

I generally have no problem going out alone, whether it be to a bar in a random country, or a local club night. Socialising with people you don't know is great fun.... I've made some fantastic friends as a result of going to nights and 'dancing it alone'.

Indeed it is pretty awesome, especially when you have some sort of game plan or you program your night musically.

There is something to be said about doing things with out your peers. You can be a total up and you will give two s because you wont have your mates there to rip you a new one.

I don't see how you can enjoy going to bars or clubbing by yourself, but not restaurants :p

Mostly because going to a restaurant, for me, involves a ton of alcohol. I love going to a nice restaurant by myself, having a few martinis, maybe a glass of wine or two, and taking in the the crowd, whilst enjoying a delicious meal.

I do enjoy socializing with people I don't know, but at a bar. Not so much going up to people at a club and asking if they want to dance, or hoping someone will come up to me.

I used to go out by myself damn near every weekend. None of my friends were into the music, and those that were lived too far outside the city to make it up that often. I'll be ed if I'm going to let the fact that I'll be by myself prevent me from hearing some kickass music and seeing my favorite artists.

Then I met the promoters/djs/their friends, became the promoter/dj/their friend, and now I can't go to various parties in a few different cities without seeing a bunch people that I know.

Lews, that's called going to the bar. You just so happen to get a better seat. :p

I'll add that I still have no shame for spending two years going to a party that was 18+ and had a separate 21+ bar area. It was the only party in town that provided good music, something other than ty kiddy raves when I was 19/20. I was there every month right when it opened, and was the only person in the under-21 area for an hour or so, until the dancefloor started to fill up.

Was it awkward as ? You bet. Do I regret it? Hell no. I got to be exposed to awesome music that wasn't normally available to my age bracket, and my being there got me noticed, got me in with promoters and got me gigs. Still the best party I've ever been to.
