I usually prefer going clubbing alone. Mostly because none of my friends like the same music as me, but also because I don't have to think about anything but myself and the music. There is always some kind of contact being made on the dancefloor anyway, so as long as you're not the only one doing it, I don't see it as -dancing alone-. It's not like this kind of dancing is a "couples dance" anyway.
When some friends and I went to Oktoberfest in Munich, I slipped away during one of the evenings and went clubbing by myself. I had no idea where to go so I just asked random people on the street for a good club. I ended up at Pacha and had a blast, hooked up with some random people from New Zealand. My friends joined me later, but they were so hammered they sucked the fun out of everything.
Same thing in Poznan, Poland. I left my friends and went on a clubbing adventure, ended up in something I think was a re-built church after meeting some random locals. Good times.
The few times I do go out clubbing with friends it's with girlfriends, and they usually end up demanding too much attention for me to fully enjoy the experience. |

| There's a weird stigma against doing pretty much anything alone. Going to the cinema, eating at a restaurant, going to watch sports, etc. |

Sorry to hear, mate. A while ago, I used to believe I was going to die alone, and I was ready and determined to live up to that predicament; but, things changed, and I met someone.
At times, I think the best way to live ones life is without expectations of any kind. I get the impression that you're a bit like me (in real life): keen on having control and expecting others to behave in a 'rational' manner. Unfortunately, people are irrational and we seldom have as much control as we'd like to believe. Which is why, sometimes, it's better to just let things flow naturally...into the abyss. |

tardy to the party... but..
i go to raves all the time on my own. my kind of music limits the amount of people close by that i can party with. yeah, for those that dont know, im a hardcore head [not happy hardcore].
for the last 3-4 years i ALWAYS go to raves on my own. it dosnt bother me one little bit, i know when i get there theres lots of people that i know, and a lot of people that know me. i run an online radio station, have done for about 5 years now, so at the risk of sounding like a big headed pretentious twat, people know me.
if i go on my own i dont have to worry about skanking a mate and going off somewhere on my own wether its to go outside for a breather, to go to talk to someone, or to go dance on my own. it dosnt matter. and apart from the actual journey to and from the party... its golden!
end of teh day, what are you going to a party for? ... to dance with your mates to show 'look.. we are a bunch of mates that dance together'? .. or to go to a party and have a good time for your for own god damn enjoyment?.
i do the latter, and have a blast every single time :) |
