A SERIOUS question about porn stars

Yesterday, at a party, a friend of mine came up with a very tricky question:
"Some porn stars are gorgeous. They could earn almost the same amount of money doing something less dirty, as being a model or a flight attender, for example, instead of being ed in every possible way infront of many other people and being aware that the reputation will never be the same afterwards (porn stars hardly get a decent marriage - would you marry some one!?). Why do they choose this career?"
It was so unexpected (and weird) that I couldn't find an answer... and I still don't know what to say. What you guys think about this porn star thing? :conf: |

| You don't need to look hot to be a flight attendant. By stars I'm sure you mean like the ones who's names u know, not the random ones. Someone in my moms social work classes actually wrote an essay on that. Basically they do it because it requires less work than normal modeling, they enjoy being on camera, there going to go and there brains out anyways and it pays a lot of money. |

simple answer really, is someone loves sex, and they also need money, get paid...for having sex? lol!
Back to the old saying that as long as youre happy thats all that counts so if someone enjoys sex that much they can get a job being paid for doing something they love, simple!

(In most cases) You either fall into two catagories: TRIOLISM or VOYEURISM. For the pornstars they're the prior.
Or the thought of have sex and getting paid for it :(

Well,
First of all, the top of the top porn stars (Janine, Chasey Lain, Houston, Jenna Jameson, Dasha, Jenteal, etc.) are making a great deal of money, my guess is that they are all well into quarter-half a million a year (far more than they could make if they were flight attendants, waitresses, etc.)
As for those who aren't making much more money I suppose it's because
1) Sex feels good and who doesn't want to be paid for something that feels good.
2) Lying on your back, getting on all fours, whatever position is in vogue nowadays, doesn't take any training per se really (compared any other jobs).
3) Some people just don't like using their minds a lot and being a porn star really isn't such a cerebral job. |

would YOU star in a porno if they paid you decent coin to bang some broads?
i wouldn't... but that's only because i follow some wacked honor system that's pretty much irrelevant to anything but me... |

Yea I dont see anything morally wrong with it, and if I can some hot broads instead of trying to pick em up so much the better :P If anyone saw me on the street and asked me about it I might feel kind of weird, but I dont see anything wrong with it from a moral standpoint. |

people should never make judgements or moral assumptions about someone because of their occupations.
Many (not all)people in the sex industry, sex workers, porn actors etc are from poor backgrounds. Many are from Eastern Europe.
Many (not all) also have low self esteem because of the generally poor way societies(yes, even western ones) treat women.
You do what you have to do to get along, support yourself and your family etc.
If something is worth doing, its worth doing for money. |

This is precisely the impression I got from the few times I've met porn actors/actresses.
The money is very good and they enjoy the work. Referring to Maaz's original comment about their reputations - it goes both ways, because some people (including myself) have good impressions about porn stars - they obviously have an open mind at least.

ultimately it comes down to them enjoying sex on a well-paying job :D |

My mate was seeing a topless dancer (not quite porn, but still) and she was a reet slapper. He didn't mind what she was doing, until he found out he was one of about five "boyfriends" that she had :haha:
She was very stupid and had no qualifications (like my mate!) I can't imagine she'd have got a job anywhere else, unless she was sweeping the streets or cleaning some toilets or something. OK she was good looking, but so are millions of people. They don't all become flight attendants or whatever because those jobs require a little more than looks (even if looks are important for the job). There are loads of gorgeous women doing low-paid mundane jobs - I'm sure amatuer pornstars get paid more. There's one reason. |
