Ha ... all you yanks hate on it because it was the only trancer that got picked up on by the MTV and mainstream radio music machine, and like everything else they get their hands on, it ends up just pissing you off because they thrash it to death for months, you can't escape it, and millions of mainstream losers that wouldn't know trance from treacle drive up and down the main street blasting it out of their cars for years afterwards.
Whereas in the UK, it was just another OK kind of trance-lite song that reared its ugly head in the dance charts for a couple of weeks, ended up on the usual round of B-grade ibiza compilations a month later and then everyone forgot about it. No big deal. I didn't think it was a bad song but I can see how it would piss you off once you heard it 500,000,000 times :rolleyes:
It's things like that are the difference between the UK and the USA ... there's good trance everywhere ... there's just much more of an acceptance of dance music culture and it doesn't have to be cheese ... I really realised this last time I was walking through the main shopping mall in Dundee and they were playing some trance compilation for their background music ... now where in America could you do your shopping to the gently piped sounds of 'for an angel'? :D |

Listen to great live sets from yesteryear such as Tiesto Live @ Innercity Amsterdam 1998 or Tiesto live @ Energy 2000 or Sasha Globlal Underground Ibiza.But listen to them straight-through, close your eyes, and let the music brainwash you and flow down your spine. After you understand the greatness of those sets by falling into a true state of trance, there's no way you'll go back to Darude in a serious fashion.
After that you can move on to the next level......... |

Hey Bluelimited if you like sandstorm then good for you. Whatever floats your boat. that, everyone here has different musical tastes and enjoy different things. I have more respect for people who aren't swayed by the opinions of others and let the people dictate what they should listen to. So Tiesto doesn't like to play Sandstorm......WHOOPDEE ING DOO, who gives a ??? like seriously?
If DJ PíO (the godfather of Trance :rolleyes: ) had his way he'll probably tell you to go listen to Southern Sun or Ligaya or whatever. Sorry, but I think Southern Sun and Ligaya is a load of .
Why does it happen everytime when someone post a thread about a tune that he or she likes whom everyone here thinks it's cheese, they have to feel a need to belittle and flame that person? It never fails. I'm not talking about just the sandstorm threads either. Someone always have to feel that they are the trance guru or something and is the king of good taste. Why do you think that Bluelimited's taste in music have to "evolve"? I really hate it when people make comments like that, it is just so idiotic. Like Bluelimited said, he's yet to find a song that gets his blood pumping more than sandstorm so good for him. He can like and listen to what he wants.

Taste in music does evolve you dumbass. Taste in all kinds of art is always evolving, it's an educational process. If you think that's idiotic, then you don't know jackass about music.
And stop being so narrow minded people. There's so much good music out there. It just happens that some are more sophisticated and complex than others. IMO the best music released in 2002 have been Aidrawndagger and this awesome mix cd called True Colors by High Contrast (which is liquid funk drum and bass) b/c trance is not EVERYTHING. |

| yes sandstorm got me into trance, in fact i was listening to my vancouver radio station which usually plays top 40 pop and rnb and suddenly this "techno" song (as i refered to it then) came on and i was like whoa cool music and i downloaded and overplayed it on repeat for about a week straight, and i came onto the forums and downloaded everything everyone recomended, with my newbie tastes tho i only embraced songs like Fine Day, castles in the sky, blow ya mind, but eventually my tastes switched to all the 1999 uplifting stuff ie. cafe del mar, kiss, airwave and after a couple of months i started getting into the most recent trance productions and i now think sandstorm is so hopefully u can follow a similar path like mine because there is just so much better out there :D |

Sandstorm... I hate that synthline, always did, always will... Kinda sounds like something Ratty did, or one of those horrible remakes of a great Rimini Project tune... |
