You guys spend way too much labeling and categorizing the music you like lol.

Whatever happened to just liking what you hear and exploring from there?

Whether it's because I don't truly know or I don't truly care, I hate boxing myself in and identifying myself with one style.

There's too much time to waste listening to the stuff instead of trying to sit here and explain it on an Internet forum.

My two cents, anyways.

This forum is great for finding new music, but forgive me for hating how much it gets dissected on here.

It's ing music. You either dig it or you don't.

We all have our own tastes; no big deal.

I think the important thing in all this is remaining open minded which, again, a lot of people on this forum aren't. Or maybe they once were, but developed their taste so much that they think anything other than what they listen to is beneath them. As a result, they come across as obnoxious.

I love the scene and a lot of people I've met through it, but sometimes these conversations really put a damper on how I feel about it.

Again, it's music. We've all made it this deep into EDM in regards to the tastes we've developed; I think we all share a common trait because of that in and of itself. Instead of harp on our differences, why not take heed in that fact alone?

Just thinking out loud.

/plur lol

Yeah, I see your point, John, but I look at it from a different perspective.

When someone first gets into the scene, oftentimes they'll try to experience everything and take it all in. At least, that's what I did. It takes a while to figure out what you truly like the most and what moves you. Like, several years.

What I'm saying is there exists a sort of "Open-Minded" to "Passion for particular music" continuum. It's good to never fall squarely on one extreme end of the continuum, but I think as time goes on, you listen to more music, you attend more events, one's place on the continuum might swing more to the "passion" side. It's just natural. And there's nothing wrong with that. I think most people on this forum, particularly on threads like these, are open-minded. You don't get into all sorts of niche genres of electronic music as an American resident if your'e not open-minded. Most people listen to truly ty music (by our standards). Hey would you rather be going to events just for the sake of being "open-minded" (but you know you probably wouldn't like it as much) or would you rather go to events that you know you're going to love and have a blast? Obviously the answer is probably answered with a "it depends," but in general, for me, I wanna go to the events with music that I have a passion for.

I think being open minded and having a passion for a particular music are parallel to music connoisseurs such as ourselves. We're undoubtedly in the minority when it comes to the tastes we like, even if they are different, so why not just embrace that fact instead of discuss it ad nauseam?

I guess what I'm trying to say is I'm sick of coming on here and constantly being subjected to threads being about who's tastes are better instead of constructive threads about the music and the scene itself. My replies weren't geared toward anyone specifically; just a general outcry.

Oh, and then there's Juan.

i think this thread has been pretty fair and evened out. compared to how goes down on the internet regarding opinion, it's been calm by any standard lol.

..probably because no one has brought up trance lawlz.

Yeah but such a conversation was not taking place. I thought it was a good discussion about different genres and different tastes. I didn't think there was an argumentative tone, or am I wrong?
