Completely overlooked this apparently.
In any case. Considering how the last thread went it's unlikely enough for us to reach a consensus on this as is so I'll refrain from submitting a theme for now. |

Yeah, I also struggle to see how exactly we are supposed to reach some sort of consensus on what theme to use. Some people are going to be dissatisfied with the theme that will be used for the challenge no matter what, so we might as well choose one at random or let the guy in charge of the challenge have the privilege of choosing it. Saves time. |

Stickying it would be fine if you think it gets more visibility. I just know sometimes people don't pay as much attention to those as they do the ones that are floating around on the front page.
I honestly just wanted to offer the ability for everyone to choose what the theme was going to be, but yeah if history serves, we are not good at making collective decisions. However, there was already backlash for me choosing what challenges we were going to do in the first place so it's almost a lose-lose for me :wtf:
If anyone doesn't want me to choose the theme, speak now. |

| One suggestion: we all propose one theme; once all the themes are in (set some date for a deadline), we are all given one veto. I can't imagine one person would veto every theme, so ideally we should knock a few of them off, leaving a smaller quantity. Then do some random number generator to choose one of the remaining ones. |

I think the vetoing thing only worked in the past because it only affected your own mix for the challenge. It's not really fair that one person gets to entirely remove the possibility of one theme to be chosen for everyone, simply because that one person doesn't like it.
I say just pick a theme at random when all the themes are in. If you sign up for this challenge, be prepared to deal with the fact that the theme chosen might not be exactly what you hoped for. |

I was trying to preclude a situation where one person suggests a theme that a large majority dislike, but then somehow that theme is the one that is randomly chosen.
What if it took some percentage of vetos to knock one off - say, 20 or 30 percent? Though, of course, this all depends on how many people end up signing up. For some reason, I'm kind of assuming we'll have 7-12 people in the end. |

This can be avoided if ziptnf simply asks the participants about which theme they really don't want. If there is a large consensus on such a theme, it'll get taken out. I don't think you can really define a fixed % of people that are required for a theme to be knocked out when the final amount of participants is so ambivalent, so ziptnf will just have to use some common sense. I don't have a problem with giving that privilege to the person who actually can be bothered to organise this whole ordeal. |

| Here's what I'll do, I'll personally veto any absurd themes or themes that suck, then I will either choose the one that looks best or use a random number generator. I've updated the main post with the suggested themes. |

How about everyone gets 2 vetoes (technically pseudo vetoes)... and it takes 2 vetoes to knock off a theme. That way no single person gets to have a major effect. After that, I don't think it really matters, either ziptnf should choose or use a rng or maybe a poll. That way at least part of it is at least partially democratic and a rough opinion on various themes can be established from people's veto voting patterns.
