or being laid off and had some on your boss,
would you let it out before leaving? couple of years back, i got laid off and after i was done expressing myself to the HR how I feel the current boss operates, they didn't let me go back to my office to get my stuff and rather had security bring it to me.. had a bunch of loose change which they mailed to me...lol |
This has happened to me. Bottom line is if you are on the way out nobody wants to hear any dirty laundry. Best to zip your lip and get on with it. If they didn't appreciate you, you were in the wrong place and something better was in the works down the line. <3 |

It's very unlikely they didn't realise the hole in their budget until that time though. If they were honest they probably would've said that they would fire someone if they went on medical leave (even indirectly). Not saying it works that way in practice but I'd hardly suggest they were doing an entirely reasonable and honest thing. |
You base this on what experience? |

Pure speculation. It depends on the nature of the business and the industry, how far in advance this medical leave was booked and numerous other factors. |

I'm going to lay a little bit of wisdom on the Cor even though they might not want to accept it.
Just shut the up and make money. If someone stops wanting to pay you, just shut the up and get paid somewhere else.
I'm a rocket scientist.
Really man, I get the angst thing; it was a crutch of mine for a long time. The sooner that you realize your worth over what you deem right, the sooner you will be able to exploit your true potential. If you have none, welp...spatula. |

they are in a licensing business.. publicly traded.. all the medical leave stuff was confirmed with hr about a month in advance..the month off was required by the doctor...that was a few yrs back.. i've been with a diff company for a little over a year now, privately operated... and 6 months in needed another 1 month off.. as i mentioned before they approved it at and the pto accumulated would be used to pay me, the rest is at my cost..and the position was there for me.. nice folks.. |

Fair enough. Presumably they only wouldn't have the money spare if they were banking on him not taking medical leave though. |

He's such a cornball, he googles it and pretends to know what the he's talking about. He reminds me of Rick Harrison from Pawn Stars.

Every single item customers bring in, he just happens to know about it  and gives a brief history lesson on the item at hand. Yeah sure, like the cameras doesn't cut at that moment then he walks in the back and reads up on the item and then he comes back to the customer...cameras start rolling and he spews out of his mouth he just learned from a site a couple of minutes before with the confidence of a experienced professor, who the this guy or Psyshell think they're fooling. Back to your dungeon, loser. |

| Right so speculating on things and gaining further knowledge = assuming I know what I'm talking about. No where did I say that. Get a clue you knobs. |

Was fired in 2009. They offered to let me "quit" so I wouldn't have to "deal with all the hassle of unemployment".
I said straight up "no, you are going to fire me, because that is what you want, you have no basis for it, and you have no record of me ever being disciplined, nor was I ever disciplined before today, and multiple employees have said to me that it was your stated intent to harass me until I quit so you could avoid paying unemployment."
They were complete boobs too, they let me shut out my computer, erasing all my personal passwords, some of which had been used for company work (because they had no password policy), and they let me go around to all the employees and basically say I was being fired, which enraged most of them, especially my team leader who had no idea what was going on.
Even better is that when I did file for unemployment they refused to answer any of the questions from the unemployment office to the point where they had to call them over and over again, finally getting no straight answer from them, which the unemployment board ruled as a gross failure in terminating someone for reasonable conduct. They ended up having to pay out for 3 years of unemployment at their expense, which was 75% of my salary.
But it wasn't over, they kept refusing to send me my vacation pay, which I had like a month of vacation because I never took days off unless I was sick. Finally I got my dad to call them in the capacity of my lawyer and they got scared, said they'd pay it, then the idiot boss said sarcastically "oh I bet you want us to negate his non-compete agreement too huh?".
My dad just said "In this state you negated it when you fired him, you idiot" and hung up. :stongue:
Greatest part too is that if I ever have to put them down as a former employer for another job and they contact them and they say anything other than my dates of employment then I can sue them for libel/slander because none of the they fired me for was valid, not a single record on my discipline and I got a raise every single year I was there until I was fired out of the blue because one client thought I was screwing them (turned out it was my boss, throwing first me under the bus for his ups, then my friend under the bus, because the same client demanded that they fire my friend). |
