It's ok, Nou. I've had similar dreams of having a job, too.

Actually I've had dreams about being back there working... I wake up in a panic.

Stories like that make me wonder if I ever want to work in a corporate (I don't know if that's even the right word) environment again. I'm currently a webdev and database designer at a pretty small start up, and so far it's five times more fun and inspiring than any of my internships in large corporations. I just felt like a robot typing code that was already somehow predefined in those companies.

This place was a 12 man shop, so it can happen there... In fact I think it is worse in those places because the office politics are basically extended to the top instantly when you work directly with the owners. At least in large corporate environments there is some buffer zones.

Was fired in 2009. They offered to let me "quit" so I wouldn't have to "deal with all the hassle of unemployment".

I said straight up "no, you are going to fire me, because that is what you want, you have no basis for it, and you have no record of me ever being disciplined, nor was I ever disciplined before today, and multiple employees have said to me that it was your stated intent to harass me until I quit so you could avoid paying unemployment."

They were complete boobs too, they let me shut out my computer, erasing all my personal passwords, some of which had been used for company work (because they had no password policy), and they let me go around to all the employees and basically say I was being fired, which enraged most of them, especially my team leader who had no idea what was going on.

Even better is that when I did file for unemployment they refused to answer any of the questions from the unemployment office to the point where they had to call them over and over again, finally getting no straight answer from them, which the unemployment board ruled as a gross failure in terminating someone for reasonable conduct. They ended up having to pay out for 3 years of unemployment at their expense, which was 75% of my salary.

But it wasn't over, they kept refusing to send me my vacation pay, which I had like a month of vacation because I never took days off unless I was sick. Finally I got my dad to call them in the capacity of my lawyer and they got scared, said they'd pay it, then the idiot boss said sarcastically "oh I bet you want us to negate his non-compete agreement too huh?".

My dad just said "In this state you negated it when you fired him, you idiot" and hung up. :stongue:

Greatest part too is that if I ever have to put them down as a former employer for another job and they contact them and they say anything other than my dates of employment then I can sue them for libel/slander because none of the they fired me for was valid, not a single record on my discipline and I got a raise every single year I was there until I was fired out of the blue because one client thought I was screwing them (turned out it was my boss, throwing first me under the bus for his ups, then my friend under the bus, because the same client demanded that they fire my friend).

And so was it thrust onto stone to endure the ages: A saga in parts thus. Oh, the bitter tears of envy brook no erosion upon that defiant filigree; whence we learned, and were lead hence, to an emancipation no less self-evident than the shattering of labour's manacles upon the very rocks that bore Prometheus' malcontent.

Fine, they didn't appreciate your skills so you leave, not exercise the full extent of those commie laws you have there in the great State of Washington.
