Looks like some kind of neurofibromatosis or advanced psoriasis. Maybe mixed in with a bit of something else I'm not sure of, probably diabetes related. |

Go look up diabetic gangrene.
Fatties can't bend to look after their feet, if they can see them at all, so after a while even minor injuries or pre-existing conditions get infected.
The skin rots, so they have to debride the deepest sections. |

Yup absolutely it can. Over time, the microvascular effects of diabetes are such that it impairs blood flow and wound healing. Combined with impaired metabolic function, even a small cut can be an extremely dangerous injury.
edit: oh EW!! I didn't see the picture you were talking about. . GROSS. Yeah I dunno if that's related to diabetes, but . . |
