What the is it about Trance, you guys?? This is not the only forum I am a part of, but it is by far the most virulent. Is it drugs? Seriously asking, because trance is the most airy and benign out there; how does it lure in all the ing basket cases? Is it the appeal to youth? Wallowing in nostalgia? I don't get it. |
I've said more than once in Music Discussion that trance, particularly modern trance, is so crassly overblown that its fans must be emotionally stunted in some way to actually take it seriously. I also think that trance is so unpopular these days and so limited to this weird Internet pseudo-scene that the kind of people who gravitate to it are the kind who spend too much time sat on their computer at home. Certainly the people you get at trance events these days are just clearly not quite balanced.
I actually made the mistake of inviting some guy from Music Discussion along with us to see Oliver Lieb in Manchester because he had nobody to go with, under the overly-kind assumption that these trance fans who come across as a bit weird on forums are probably just not conveying themselves well in text. As it happens he was the most socially awkward and gawky guy imaginable and everything that came out of his mouth managed to kill the discussion stone dead. But despite the fact he had no rapport with anyone and didn't even really seem to enjoy the music (he certainly didn't dance) he kept messaging me about other events and even began to turn up at stuff uninvited, claiming "his friends" were somewhere else in the venue (needless to say, nobody ever saw any of these friends).
Now I've learned my lesson and just stick to being a cunt to everyone. |

It's becoming increasingly impossible to discern through all the overgrown IRONY whether you're ever being serious, jokey or limply passive-aggressive these days. |

| Oh God, I totally forgot about that guy in Manchester. That was awkward as . I'm pretty sure he even said afterwards the music wasn't to his taste, except for the Kamaya Painters remix or some track like that. Shame for him, that was a great time! |

It was a great night. And most of it is on Youtube!
Also, I can't help but notice that your Last.fm sig, having been stuck on the same plays for about two years, has suddenly filled up with my mixes. |

Haha, I'm being serious(and jokey).
We'll meet and I hope it's incredibly awkward and I'm looking forward to it. I promise I'll dance too. |

Yeah, I've watched most of those clips a few times haha. Especially that Dreamstate one, since I missed the dancefloor for that :p
That's so odd that my signature finally updated! I wonder why now? With regards to your mixes, I was re-listening to Ascension after you bumped the thread and then got called off without pausing, so iTunes kept playing your stuff. Not sure why the time stamps show a five hour gap, though. Or why they played in that order o.o |

Guess hes one of those guys who has to take a few Es to have fun. I can kinda relate to that if I am not feeling the music, but with Oliver Lieb spinning classics  |
