"... is open to anyone, but is not for everyone. The club welcomes individuals who value the communal experience of music over cameras and bottle service."
Oops, my bad, wrong place
"Space is open when you slip the outside line staff enough greeen, but is not for people who bought tickets. Spece welcomes you to buy them, but we won't honor them when we can sell $80 GA tickets instead at the door. We definitely value the the bottle service crowd, don't forget your camera"
Oh, when we say, dress casual, but neat, we don't really mean it, unless of course, we do.
"Next time, wear a button down, this isn't Space Miami".[not said to me]
This after letting a t-shirt Guido by, but hey, he opened his wallet.
Kidding aside, other places that do this (and w/o the BS) at least have the decency of saying ahead of time that tickets will only be honored up to a certain time.
Not this place, see terms of sale on ticket page, nada.
If you're selling tickets, then fill the place up at GA instead, that's already fraud, because you've sold a service you're not honoring.
But when you apologize to all waiting that the place is at max, and can't honor any more tickets, and then you let people in who just pull out more green, it's out and out lying.
Any sort of dress standard becomes just so much more bull excuses.
Bottom line, this bull and this place.
The real regret here is shafting Rebeccah or Kaden at those Verboten or Output line-ups, that's what you get for giving something that not looking too promising from the start the benefit of the doubt.
As for Lucien, don't blame him for taking the money, but here's hoping our friends at Marquee can bring him back to a real place.
Type of crowd:
after the above, bunches went around the corner to Tommy Trash, you get the picture:
Pacha, with a better shirt, sometimes.
Just wait until that new-since-August-TA member spams next week's big name guest on the event page, and you'll see it, he's a favorite around these parts.
For my part, one never says never, but that'll have to be something more compelling than L., and not for that coin.
Anyone who went, glad to hear about the other side of the rope of course.
We can only hope that this place takes some of this crowd away from O/V/etc, but doesn't $-bulldoze the bookings....
SpIbNY, how about weighing in, seeing as you feel it makes sense to post where most people care a lot about music, and little about bull?
And while at it, how about posting the way to get the promised full refund? |

| lol I just posted the same thing in the other Space thread. Worst clubbing experience of my life. I can only pray that good DJs do not get booked here because I will never go back. |

| Not sure why I would feel at home though. I want a dress code that enforces no collars. |

| Neonbeats, I edited my comment above about that wise-crack, my apologies (I misread the older one of yours). |

My review from the other thread.
Ok so this place blows. Complete cluster. Save yourself time and do not go here under any circumstances.
So I show up around midnight to a pretty serious line. Tickets and non tickets all the same line (great). Line does not move for 30min and I try to ignore the fact that the crowd looks absolutely horrible. Another line starts to form in the street and just a mob of people around the door. Another hour goes by and we move about 10feet, mostly due to people leaving the line. I start to hear people say they got turned away because they didn't have a collar. Bouncers are screaming at people like cattle and telling people with tickets to go themselves. They tell everyone the place is at capacity all while letting groups of girls walk right in and guys who bribe the door person in. Another line starts to form for people trying to get a refund. About 2 hours later at this point and they tell everyone that doors are closed and to go home. They had to have turned away hundreds of ticket holders. At this point I'm furious and just walk past the bouncers and somehow make it past them amongst all the confusion. I finally get in and the place is pretty crowded, not sure if it's turn away tons of ticket holder crowded, but pretty packed. The crowd was atrocious. We're talking about Pacha atrocious. Drinks are expensive, there is one room, horrible vibe. I lasted about an hour before leaving, Luciano sounded ok.
So to sum it up, imagine a Marquee cluster door without the separate ticket line, and bigger bouncers. Then, once you're in, imagine being surrounded by guidos and sketchy ghetto Pacha folk in a boring, vibe less room with nowhere to escape. Complete black eye to the real Space Ibiza. No doubt this is a douchier, more poorly run, Pacha. |

Good to know abouts the refunds, my friends who were further back in the line didn't get in. They didn't scan mine either so yea I'm asking for a refund for that bs. The rain was icing on the cake. |

Disappointed to hear. But then again I didn't have too much hopes for the NYC version. Any club where a collar shirt is almost required is already turning me off. I'm going there to dance, not look nice and stare at my cell phone.
Just do a # search for SpaceIbizaNY and all you see are people staring at their phones.
Oh well, on a brighter note. Cocoon Halloween in Miami with Sven Vath. This may be where I go. |

You didn't have to be a ninja. They didn't know wtf they were doing. Me and the gf just pretended we were with a bottle group and walked in. It was pretty much chaos and I thought a riot was going to break out. |

it's actually funny, like you can't take it off inside to show your "this club is " t-shirt.
The bouncer actually told one guy to button up his shirt, when he did, except for top one, bouncer told him, all the way (looks so good without a tie...)
yup, you couldn't unbutton it inside.
another guy was refused, bouncer told, put on a shirt and brush your hair next time.
lol. they were just making this up because of the ticket thing.
also shoes.
if you dance, all night, like anyone can see what's on your feet.
now, if you're sitting in the tables, different story.
dress shoes are SO suited to dancing.
plus have you ever looked at your shoes after just one night?
why would you ruin a pair of dress shoes with all the drink and beer soup you're wading in...
at least at the m&b places, if that's the thing, you're amongst actually rich s, here it's just pose all the way |

I got there around midnight and stood in line - waited about 20 mins and then a bouncer from the front yelled for ticket holders to come up, which we did......we got a "warning" about sneakers and t shirts, but let us in regardless....so i guess my experience was better but that doesnt say much
place looks half finished in spots - even after their year+ delay...paint still smells fresh by the roof
Really confusing, the whole night reminded me of a douchey marquee type place, but has potential to be a good room esp for later nights, sans the tables and some of the crowd
interesting if and why these rules would be enforced on say, a victor calderone night
some of the forthcoming music lineup certainly does not match the crowd they cater to |
