No,
How is the sync button the cornerstone of djing/mixing. I hope this doesn't become a trend like all other in the scene. Soon it'll be getting on top of dj booths instant crowd interaction. |

Isn't this already a trend for many years then?
When using four decks, mixing three tracks and using effects live even with sync and prepared cue points this is hard working. You don't have a lot of time to interact with the crowd.
So which DJ's play live and which don't? |

It isn't a trend for djs like joof. Mixing three tracks with sync is basic stuff. What do you mean by interacting with the crowd like cheezy hands in the air? Knodding your head yes multiple times agreeing with the crowd that is one bad as beat or a gay jesus pose?
The pure fundamental part of djing is mixing manually to the crowd not just sit there with sync button and use fancy effects. Consider me oldschool but mixing just brings joy and influences on which track I want to use next. |

| I think the whole "using sync lets me be more creative" argument is nonsense. first of all, doesn't seem like that many djs do "creativity" well. just because you layer sounds from multiple tracks doesn't mean it sounds good. second, why don't they just try and channel that creativity into the studio and make more creative tracks in the first place? i'd much rather hear more diversity in productions than some dj trying to play a bunch of samples over each other. why does creativity have to be live? it doesn't it's just an excuse to be a lazy mixer. |

| Id rather hear the dj a few mixes....at least then you appreciate the good ones....you appreciate it and the dj appreciates it. Connection. |

Because DJing is a live performance art. Why have DJs at all if you don't want creative decisions to be made live?
Beatmatching is the least important part of being a good DJ. It's not 1978. Get the over it. |

| How is layering and fancy effecting actual creativity, i rather hear on point long melodic transitions than just 4 psy trance tracks at once with dumb effects. |

My first reaction (when Airwave posted this on his FB) was, doesn't he know Ben Liebrand who's been doing this since 2001 with CDJ's?
Fact is that most people don't give a about mixing, but probably more are able to notice multiple tracks played at the same time, especially when vocals are used.
I doubt playing three tracks at the same time is basic stuff, I think just few really do that.
That interaction is the cheezy hands in the air and jumping around and not even Armin's T(rance)-symbol, as that's only during a breakdown where there is time for it.
Since scratching with trance sucks, the digital effects to me sound cool as I can recognize they weren't in the original track. When mixing vinyl I can appreciate the skills, but at the same time I know much more is possible. I want to be surprised, but the track selection to me remains the most important part of a set. |

I agree with track selection as close to the most important part of a set. Sync with three tracks is easy as moving a fader up down. You just need a LAN cable..I really don't care about todays scene whether if they even care about mixing or not. Like Marc said for me i rather hear a drift here or there and some spot on mixing mostly thru the whole night which causes instant connection lol.
Here;s some scratching with blend of breaks and oldschool lifting trance.
Sounds good if you ask me. |

This is an utterly infantile level of discussion on this subject. Come back when you're capable of constructing more than a laughable false opposition. |
