I see where your coming from . But Im a fairly new poster, just started being active this summer. In fact the whole appeal of this forum was the fact that the community has high barriers to entry. With no strict curation model, the quality of this place would quickly plummet. This place would be over run with teeny boppers posting about Gareth Emery and Club Life podcasts. :nervous: |

You have to wonder if he tossed out all his records/cds, so many of these are top-of-the-pops stuff.:stongue:
Good that he still has an appreciation for these though. Some really good tunes for sure. |

Perfect comparison to call it a "Now thats what I call trance classics" edition.
From what I heard, growing up, this is what the mix really should have been. I'm not a DJ so its in no particular order. The tracks he was famous for playing are so prominent in trance folklore that I remembered most of these without even looking up my old tunes. Puts into perspective what Tiesto was and what he has become.

Holy this thread turned into some hilarity. Just an FYI, I dont think Tiesto wanted to mix his old school trance tracks into that mix. I think he wanted to represent "90s EDM" including all the subgenres, but not just trance. I think he wants to still put his former trance glory tracks out of spotlight. Because he is completely aware that he is playing music, if he has xxxx number of followers and if he all of a sudden released a mix of all of his old school tracks that are much better, the smart listeners who barely know Tiesto would be in the comments section in YouTube leaving comments like "WTF! What happened to Tiesto! His new stuff sounds nothing like this!"
I'm pretty sure Tiesto didnt wanna put any of his old tracks in that 90s EDM mix probably to hide the fact that he has had better productions in his past and doesn't want his newer "Club Life Listeners" to catch on yet.
And for what it is worth, I love TranceAddict. Anybody who is saying we are all bitter and have nothing better to do than bash other things, is simply absurd. I have found amazing tracks here on TA from TA members who suggested tracks in different threads that left a big positive effect on my trance listening journeys.
Had it not been this website, I would not know who Cosmic Baby is, I would not know about Ishkur's guide, I would not know Northern Exposure, or Epic Monolith, or DJ Shredda - Chainsaw, and many other tracks I found here when TA members posted links.
We are not bitter like you of you may think. |

this. Even more: 2~3 years ago i was a ing electro/dubstep/fluffy trance follower. TA cured me.

I think all the various 'trance classics' compilations that have appeared for the past decade have made it impossible to pull off a new one without it seeming too obvious to be enjoyable. The tracklisting posted above would be fine if there weren't already hundreds just like it, and probably in similar order. It's no ones fault, because really, how many times can you mix the same set of agreed upon classics without it becoming mind-numbingly repetitive?
I think something along the lines of a "Choice" or "Back To Mine" compilation is a more interestingly personalized way to release a selection of classics. |

^I do wonder who this is for then, everyone who was alive back then will have heard these songs in a trillion different configurations now. Hell they still play these songs to death on regular radio stations today. On the other hand truly new listeners are unlikely to be in to this.
Then again we're probably overanalyzing this, it was probably some mindless project they gave to an intern or something. |

| It's for teenagers. I thought that was obvious? Everything Tiesto does is aimed at teenagers. Most of these tracks are pure pop and kids do actually like classic pop music. |
