| I'd like to get away from the Internet and other such bull for a while to knuckle down at some writing. When I moved into my flat and we had no mod cons my productivity shot up. But when I was unemployed I just felt listless. I could only ever get it together to do something productive late at night after I'd been up all day. I just need the structure that a job brings, it makes it easier to allocate time and use it well, rather than lounging around all day. |

I'm not lazy though. And you're right, it doesn't have to be just how it is.
Moving is certainly part of that change. Florida is the dumps for anyone creative or artistic. . |

The writer Thomas Mann used to visit a cabin in the mountains or woods for a month or so just to focus on writing and get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. But if you don't really have the desire to write, removing yourself from the world won't help you. |

I can definitely see that and relate. Nothing is as tedious, draining and uninspiring as doing nothing all day. But some jobs are draining as hell, as well. Either way you gotta make the effort and the necessary sacrifices if you want to get something done. |

There are no issues with me not having the desire to write.
I just always think I should be doing more of it (for myself, that is).
It's true. When you write to pay the bills, it's tough to come home and work on side projects that are for yourself.
So yea, it has nothing to do with desire and more to do with creative energy.
I know what I need to do, though. Move the out of this state and either write for bylines or find another gig. |

Your creative energy will come as a result of creating. Inspiration will come when you're busy creating, not sitting around thinking about what to create. :p |

My inspiration comes from traveling.
When I'm on the road, I can write like a machine.
Perhaps I'm so wrapped up in the experience I forget about thinking about what to create. It just comes to me. |

| Of course, but when you come back to reality, you realize you can't always be traveling, but you still need to write (if that's what's paying the dolla bills). Unless you decide to become an itinerant wanderer and have the world for "home." :gsmile: |

Haha that's why living back at home while I await my job applications isn't too bad for me. Yesterday I went on a 2 hour snowshoe hike in the bush next to my folks house. There's a vast network of trails a 5 minute walk next to it, and a 10 minute walk in the other direction (north instead of west) lands you into another inter-connected network, with plenty of off-trail experiences. I actually found a deserted/rusted chopped up car in the bush yesterday that I'm thinking about making a shelter out of for future winter trips.
And I even live in a neighborhood - the "city" is a 20 minute drive away. The town-centre is a 5 minute drive away. |
