So I believe the tune you are talking about is his own unrealesed edit/remix of Jean Michel Jarre - Ethnicolor. Also I believe you might be confusing two different essential mixes that he plays this on. The first is the gatecrasher nye: |
I'm sure I was confusing it with something, as I picked up most of these sets around ten years ago off sharing sites like Kazaa, in which a lot of these sets were uploaded using the same, overlapping tags. Thanks for these posts, though- will definitely have a listen now that they're here. |

Is this authentic? The tracklist seems a little odd since I dont ever recall him playing 1998 and there isnt one of his own songs on this. |
You'd be surprised at some of the stuff Sasha played in 1998 that you wouldn't have expected, like this set:
1998 - Sasha @ Bedrock, Heaven, London
https://soundcloud.com/wantstobethedj/sasha-live-bedrock-heaven-london-1998
[00] Kobayashi - Release (Dub Mix)
[04] ?
[??] Pablo Gargano - Chemistry Of Soul
[13] PMT - Tequila Flange
[19] Clear View - Never Enough
[25] Pablo Gargano - Essential Listening For All
[30] Joshua Ryan - Don't Look Back (X-Cabs Mix)
[36] Mirage - Syrus
[40] Paul van Dyk - For An Angel
[46] Paul van Dyk - Avenue
[54] K90 - Above The Clouds
[62] ?
[66] LSG - Hidden Sun Of Venus (Oliver Lieb Mix)
[74] Binary Finary - 1998 |

Sasha and Diggers both used to hammer Avenue to be fair. They had the original promo when it was going to be a track on PVD's mythical lost album for MFS that never came out due to contractual arguments. PVD eventually re-recorded the track and it came out two years later on Out There And Back.
For what it's worth, I think it's a great track. For An Angel is pretty dodgy though. |

Nice set, hope im not tricked but, there is definitely something magic about some of these old sets; When I see people trying to mix their own tribute sets they always fall way, way, way short.

I actually like the original mix of for an angel a lot:
The e-werk mix is when it started getting too unicorn trancey.
Also, like System was saying, Avenue was from that lost album. It was done while he was still making progressive trance and before he switched to a more epic trance sound so its not surprising that sasha and digweed used to hammer the track out.
And 1998 was basically the year that trance exploded as far as im concerned. It was basically the sound everywhere. So its not surprising to see sasha hammering out more trance tracks during this year. That being said, really surprised he was playing Binary 1998. That track was basically the Levels of its day. You heard it damn everywhere. |

This all just brought me back to that Sasha & Digweed Homelands set from 2000. It's exactly what I ing want in a festival set. The opening with the Bedrock Remix of Live at the Crystal Palace into Zerotonine (Slacker Sax Factor Remix) is ingggggg.
It's a shame he wrecked it so hard lol. |
