That poor old guy :(
sothis
as far as theft because of a different country, i kind of agree with that, but at the same time, for example, when i found the canadian cop, they said that unless there was a witness or i saw the person, there wasnt anything they could do... this makes sense, even if it was in the states as well. i mean, i DID get the cds covered by my insurance (the window was not covered because of my deductable), but i dont see anything else they COULD do unless i saw the guy... and well, i was gone all day so i didnt :p

i know in this case that it had to have been my car because it was american, because i was in a *packed* parking garage, and my american car was the only one ed up, plus the note that said hope this didnt ruin your trip. i actually had nothing in my car except my cds which i always put in the trunk... only other they took was my american change cuz its all i had in there >_<

but yea, i do like canada.
JohnSmith
so, they broke into your car, just to steal american change?

hmm, that's kinda strange.

also, same thing happens to canadians in america. some buddies of mine went down to washington, and some dudes started chasing them in a pickup truck. it had gun racks in the window, and like 2 guys in the front. they were throwing cans of budweiser and my friends car and stuff. I swear i am NOT making this up.

anyway, my buddies got away and lost them, but it just goes to show it happens everywhere.
sothis
well the way i see it, they broke into it because it was american... saw there was nothing in there, took the change, then happened to check the trunk :/

and haha at your story... scary

JohnSmith
so, how did they get in the trunk? you have a hatchback or something?
Trancewave
The way I see it, there's jerks in every country.

Sothis, sorry like that had to happen to your car. I can't speak for any other city but I haven't seen that happen to american tourist in Toronto (being as Toronto is so close to New York, we get americans crossing the border all the time and vice versa)

Yeah overall I do like Canada except that it's friggin' cold as hell in winter :whip: :whip: :whip: . Having travelled to many parts of the states I had no idea how much I miss Toronto and how great we have it here.

Actually the F and C meet at -40 degrees... that's freakin' cold and I've seen it several times in my life...

sothis
nah, not a hatchback, but you can pop the trunk by means of a little lever at the base of the driver seat... same with the gas cap.

i dunno, maybe they were pissed that i carry nothing in my car so they thought to check the trunk :/

here's an anecdote for you guys... i travel a LOT.... and used to hit europe up every summer... well some places american's aren't "too well received" shall we say, so i always just said i was Canadian LoL...
