when was anyone ever thrown in jail for breaking an amendment? retard.
ron paul can't cite a law that allows for taxes to be explicitly taken, seems like you do. tell me it, i'll pass it on to ron... it seems to have passed him by in his 40 years of politics. |

oh yeah, 40 years of experience, and it's on ing wikipedia. silly ron.

"The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration."
So, yeah, it does look like the 16th Amendment allows taxes to be both instituted ("lay") and taken ("collect").
Now you're correct that the 16th Amendment does not in itself mandate an individual to pay any specific tax. Rather, it authorizes Congress to pass income tax laws: and those *are* what require individuals to pay taxes. These laws are called the US Tax Code, and they tell American citizens what we owe depending on our income and the characteristics of our household, e.g.:
http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/26/1
So when your ideological fellow travelers get their asses thrown in the pokey for tax evasion, it is for failing to comply with the Tax Code, and not "breaking" the 16th Amendment. |

| Rubez, you still haven't provided a direct quote from Ron Paul to show he denies the existence of this law. I'd really like to see what he actually has to say on this subject. |

all i said was there is no law allowing the US to collect income tax. which there isn't, unless you can show us?
for every other jailable crime, they can cite a law that you have broken. where is this one? |

if you can't point to the law, then shut up. that's the ONLY thing in question here. |

i said there was no law to allow the US to collect income tax, which is true. |

anytime anyone has asked to see the law (when being tried) they haven't been able to produce it. surely it should be your right to see it. |
golly that must be embarrassing for you.
oh look, here's your messiah's opinion on what income tax should be! sure sounds like he knows about tax changes in accord with the ing 1913 act!

Well, we should have the lowest tax that we've ever had, and up until 1913 it was 0% |
so dumb :haha: |
