| we have to put things into perspective. if the year was 2001, 2002 or whatever, I guarantee people would be salivating over this track. it's easy to fault a track that sounds generic or in 2015 considering what's unfolded in the trance scene in the last 10 years or so. after all, it does sound like an early 2000's track. |

| that doesn't make the track better |

| Perhaps it doesn't. I'm just giving it the benefit of the doubt. |

na. it sounds . compare it to ANY other gouryella track or remix. it's weak. people are just falling for the hype. i said elsewhere, gouryella basslines grabbed you by the throat - this has no balls. no percussion, it barely passes for music. it's just noise.
would this even be mentioned here if it wasn't supposedly gouryella? case closed. |

Coming from someone who bumped an old thread just to post an equally bane track. Get off your high horse. |

| i think this track, whomever its by, sounds very 1999-2001 trancey. Just kind of goes to show that while people might be very nostalgic about that time period in music, they aren't really interested in new music made in that style. this kind of stuff was never really my style, but still pretty shocked by the responses in this thread. i figured this would be right up the alley of all of you quote en quote trance fans out there. this track sounds exactly like early ferry, armin, tiesto... |

it really doesn't.
go compare it side by side with tenshi and make that statement again. as for the cheddary melody, i don't think even that is of that time - that's the only thing that would make it 'trancey'. the rest is the polished compressed EDM. |

see i'm the wrong person to have this argument with because honestly i find Tenshi cheesy and generic. like i said that style of trance was never really my thing.
i just listened to tenshi and this again now and i can see what you are saying about it's maybe not as energetic or pumping etc, but i still think this Origami track is very much inspired by and fits into that time period of trance music pretty well. maybe you don't think it belongs in the Gouryella cannon or whatever, but i could make a trance classics mix and fit this track in side by side with the others and i don't think people would know the difference.
anyway to each their own. listen to whatever you want. |

if you don't know the style so well you can't really comment with authority.
i'm sorry, this would not fit in well in any true trance classics mix. it would stick out like a sore thumb.
in fact, if you made a mix of 13 tracks from 99-01 era, and slipped this one in somewhere - and i hadn't heard any of the tracks in the mix before, i am confident i could easily pick out this 2015 production, as 'trance-ified' as it supposedly is - and i'm guessing it would be the same for most trance fans of the era.
to an outsider, maybe it sounds like old-school trance. to me, it just barely separates itself from the current wave of EDM. |
