And luckily, it did.

It is such an honour to have literally the entire trance scene playing Origami, including big stars like Armin van Buuren, Aly & Fila, Markus Schulz, Solarstone, Bryan Kearney and off course Ferry Corsten. I can't express how flattered I am to have people compare my work to that of Ferry's, to have dedicated forum topics on TranceFix (and many more forums) to "Origami" because they love it so much and are all guessing who was the artist behind it, and not to forget all the blogs who featured it as if it was the return of Gouryella... it is truly the biggest honour I could get!

That TranceFix thread's something else. You sure don't see that kind of discussion generated over a single ID around here anymore - kinda' envious, if I'm honest. :gsmile:

It's easy getting cynical about the evasive marketing behind this track tho'. Why not straight-up admit this was Dimension from the outset, while still promoting it as a proper epic trance throwback in the style of old Gouryella? Probably wouldn't generate the same amount of mysterious hype, but at least forlorn Ferry fans wouldn't feel so duped in the process. I'm sure fans of that era would enjoy it regardless of name.

well, enough for discussion I would say.

The only given was because this track was comparable to gouryella which it is not. Trying to emulate a sound a decade too late just seems a bit desperate to me. No one cares anymore let 10 years be 10 years. And IF u choose to emulate a certain sound at least make it good if not better than the originAl. This is as memorable as the silent farts Dolly the retard did in grade school. So no its not gouryella , gouryella isnt coming back and gouryella should not even be mentioned with this track. This is origami Aka dolly dobsons silent wish
Mr.Mystery
I dunno... those farts were pretty memorable.

Yeah, it's not amazing, but for sure not bad. And looking at the reactions still many people do like it. Nr. 6 at Beatport Trance Top 100 today and at 8 another one with a classic sound: Numb the Pain by Will Atkinson (Push - Strange World).
