I have no idea how people can say that this sound like a 00-01 production.. This track sounds as polished and clean as everything else made in the latest 10 years.
You have to use those old samples and sounds in order for it sound retro, this is just a typical modern production. |

fair enough.
but i don't even think the 'authentic' or 'serious side' trance being made currently would even fit well into a trance classics set. they too would stick out, i believe.
if something from j00f or bonzai couldn't cloak into such a mix, then this 'gouryella' track has no hope in hell.

spot on. these new tracks are the polar opposite of raw (2015 airwave productions included) not saying 2000's trance was 'raw' exactly, but in comparison they are bloody and naked. |

The track has one aspect that connects it to early 2000 trance, and that's the structure of the melody. But that's it. The instrumentarium and the process its been subdue to is very current. And I understand, for many, a melody on its own is enough to be deceived. However, the trained/experienced ear could pick it up apart pretty quickly.
This is a typical modern edm production with a classic Gouryella/Corsten melody. |

No it doesn't. |

| To be clear, I don't have the music background that most of you do on here, with the debating of the structure of the song, etc, but as a fan of electronic music for the last 20 years, I personally thought that this track sucked. |

Well I like it, and think it would be a worthy continuation to the Gouryella name. I reckon if this had been released in the wake of Ligaya people would be claiming to prefer it. A few marks off because the tune is quite similar to Walhalla.
Unfortunately it's completely irrelevant in this day and age, and I can't imagine I'll even buy it - but could see myself looking it up on Youtube occasionally. |

Fair enough.. maybe saying it "sucked" is a little harsh.
I just think it sounds like what other people have mentioned... very generic. |

it definitely sucks.
i don't want to hate on it, but seeing people praise it, and even liken it to gouryella's of old riles me somewhat - it just doesn't compare, on a number of levels. take them blinkers off!
whilst there is evidence this is a "gouryella" track, ferry can do better than this with his eyes shut. i think maybe he is trying to cater to both crowds, new and old fans, and ending up with a compromised turd of a production. the melody is awful, the worst i've ever heard from corsten, he has done better even recently - see 'silfra' - that's old school ferry, new-style. |

Obviously the production is not the same as in older tracks, but the track itself tries to rehash the old epic trance formula. |

We like it here! Eargerly awaiting for it to touch down! Dunno why it just reminds us of old Ferry Corsten vibes in a way.
