I love Hidden Flight - not too keen on the 'Love's on Fire' mix, which I believe was only made because of the success of the mash up.

I think Rui Da Silva - Touch Me started life as an instrumental and I everyone likes the vocals on that one - I don't think I've ever seen the instrumental in a mix

I'm also incredibly embarrassed to say that I really like the Miro Vocal Mix of 3 Drives - Greece 2000, and prefer it with them in

According to Wikipedia, Touch Me was always written to be a vocal track:

quote:
Vocalist Cassandra Fox wrote the song and co-produced the hit single with Rui (Cass writing the lyrics, Fox/Silva writing the backing track) hanging out at Silva's studio after the two met when he and a friend saw her performing in the West End.

I heard Love's On Fire before the mash-up so it never suffered by comparison. I think it's a rare example of a vocal trance tune with half-decent lyrics. The lyrics in the vocal version of Perception are utter dross by comparison.

of course its a spoken word track.....but

that's fine. when it comes to spoken words, The Crystal Method - Trip Like I Do immediately popped up in my mind. apparently, the story goes that Ken Jordan's girlfriend left a voice message while she was high and said "Oh my god this is the best, I want you to trip like I do" and a few other things. They ended up using it in this classic track. The track itself is a beast but that phone message just added the cherry on top. :D

On the subject of vocals being added onto tracks, this one was much-maligned back in the day but I still love it and prefer it to the original:

seriously? I prefer the original to be honest. man is this a polarizing topic.

There are lots of spoken-word / sample tracks with significant lyrics I like, but few tracks with, like, actual vocals. 'Mercury and Solace', 'Touch Me', 'Imagine (Imagination 1)', and 'Mindcircus' all come to mind, on the progressive side of things.

i also think the vocal mix is better
arjoderoon
and is the other way around also allowed? I know some tracks that certainly not improved by adding vocals... (rank 1 - airwave; tiesto - urban train; tiesto - flight 643)

BT is a weak producer. His tracks sounds 1 dimensional and lacks 'depth'. It doesn't stack up from bars by bars, it's just very simple beats.

You want to hear some deep stuff, "Hybrid". BAM! IN YO FACE!

Weak? I liked Remember and Mercury and Solace a lot. (And Flamming June of course.) Many good remixes too (PvD, Transa)
