For real? Does that actually work? I know guys who did that for a celeb wedding I went to in Montana and I told them they were crazy but they said they do it everywhere. I thought they were joking.

I was curious to what BPM_PHL thought. I've been to both as well but I'd like see what things in particular that made Miami better?

Miami:
1. You're still in the US
2. Hotter women!!!
3. Miami is a cool city with lots of history
4.
5.

PdC:
1. PdC is great little town to visit
2. Everything is cheap
3. DRUGS!
4.
5.

I thought I'd never go back to WMC/MMW but from the sounds of it, things are changing in the right direction. Still sounds like that week is expensive as but sometimes you have to pay to play.

This is quite interesting as my single experience with Miami was pretty bad, yet I've always had amazing times in Mexico.

Now granted, neither was for MWC MMW or BPM, but I found Miami to be incredibly tacky and cheesy, where PDC/Tulum has been nothing short of Magical. In fairness the last time I went to Tulum, I spent a fortune on a single week's stay ($10k+) but it was worth every penny. One of those holidays you never forget and found everyone there to be good, real people.

Miami is expensive and tacky - like Vegas on sea without the facilities. Again, I can't comment on the festivals, but just as places, Mexico FTW every time.

It is a pain that it's outside the USA. As a 'Ferner in this fine land, it's a bitch to line up for up to 3 hours in immigration coming back in :(

BPM just seemed cheap to me. The venues suck and can't hold crowds at all. The sound sucks. Even for the "cool" new venues it like Martina beach and "the Jungle" it was the same basic formula. Throw up a tent, throw up some mediocre speakers and stock a portable bar with modelo and call it a day.

I did not like the vibe in general in Playa Del Carmen. There seems to be a real rift between the locals and the touristas there for BPM. It is annoying as hell getting wares, both legal and illegal, hawked to you every five seconds. Even walking home at 7am from a party you can't walk in peace without "Hombre, amigo..sombrero, cigar...maybe a Mexican wife??" I did not find the vibe at the parties particularly good either and didn't see much camaraderie between the tourists there for the party. One exception to this may be Techno Tacos which had a pretty awesome street party vibe. Then there is the whole thing with the cartel and the open drug market which probably poses no problem for 95% of people but for me only added to the weird vibes and negative energy getting solicited for pills and blow every time you needed to take a piss.

The great part about Mexico though is that its dirt cheap and the dollar gets you very far and you can eat a King's meal for next to nothing. Also there are the other tourists destinations outside of Playa but I did not have time to do any extras.

I will say Day Zero felt completely separate from the other events not only because of the 90 minute shuttle/walk combo it took to get down into the cenote. From the stunning natural location, to the art installatios, live performers, acrobats, pristine funktion one, and hundreds of locals who seemed to be in on the local ticket option Damian promoted that was really a top notch production.

Miami on the other hand to me has the best and widest selection of amazing venues possible. From the cruises on the Biscanye Lady, tiny little boutique clubs like the Pickle and Do not Sit to the big Warehouse locations like Mana (as long as the promoter puts something into the party read: not Paradise) to the quirky one offs like the yacht dock used for the Do Not Sit outdoor party and even the beautful South beach pools as long as its a tech event which as of yet don't seem to bring the bad crowds. And finally the 24 hour techno mecca that is Space and now its sister club's Heart and E11ven which all run close to 24 hour schedules, it seems to me there is something for everyone at all hours of the day if you chose your parties carefully. Sound is damn good at most places as well which is a serious reason I rate Miami over BPM.

I have friends in Miami and over the last years I have met their peeps, and their peep's peeps. The scene seems to be thriving down there and a get a real sense of community which adds to the vibe. If Miami has the reputation of being fake and plastic, well the local techno scene seems super real and the people in general are much friendlier than what i have encountered partying in say New York. Also everyone I encountered outside of partying like uber drivers, restaraunt workers, hotel employees seemed mad chill and super friendly.

Get Lost is such a perfect capstone and anchor to the week. It has grown into a festival in it's own right with the production to match seeing 60 DJs and 4 stages going 24 hours with each area having its own, sound vibe and aesthetic. If I hadn't seen a particular friend at my other parties you can be damn sure we would all be together for what has become a little family reunion of sorts. The DJs all play their hearts out for this event and you can tell they save their special tunes and bring their absolute A game to match the vibe of the party.

Finally SPACE. There is really nothing like it. Can there be a better way to close out a party week than a 30 hour marathon festival at arguably one of the top clubs there is? You can be dog tired after a long week of dancing but as soon as you step foot on the terrace all your energy instantly comes back to you. The vibe and energy in that room is extraordinary and time just melts away with no end time, no last call, and basically no rules. If you come at peak time its $100 to get in but show up late morning its probably free with hours and hours of partying left at the club that never closes.

Miami week may be down from its peak but i don't think its going anywhere anytime soon.

I'm due for a Vegas trip! It def gets harder w/ kids. I now have a 3 year old and a 1 month old.

I'm actually going to Miami for a bachelor party in May. (hopefully it won't be too too too humid)

Vegas for sure sometime in August for the same bachelor friends (2 close friends getting married weeks apart so we are doing 1 Miami and 1 Vegas trip)

But we should go sometime before! Maybe in June for my birthday ??????

That sounds some sweet trips you got planned there. Gina is due May 4th (it'll be our first), so June will be too early for me to do pretty much anything. Would love to hit up Vegas with you and Nerologic though. Hang out with some professional party people.

Congrats!!!! Life will def be different once baby comes. Enjoy the peace and quiet for now.

The permission slip will take a while. But Vegas will always be there....one day......maybe in a year or 2! :toocool:

Odd article, it just lists a bunch of bad incidents that have happened over the last few years LOL

(Even though I do agree we have reached the "peak of EDM", it will continue to trend downward as the young kids only going for the Molly will burn out.)
