ok i use to believe in that philosophy nice guy finish last too.
Because for a long time i figured i would get shot down at my every attempt, but its not true. I found someone without even realizing it. Started last year at the county fair, she was the friend of a friend that i was going around the fair with and she was beautiful! I didnt think she was interested in me, and i thought she was stuckup so i didnt attempt to say hi to her. I couldnt of been anymore naive, and that was that night. I went home feeling stupid because i lost another chance at finding someone.
One week later i got an IM on MSN from somebody i didnt know and it ended up being her. And a month later things started to click and we started going out and here we are today. 10 months and going strong
I wouldnt mind spending the rest of my life with her. :)
The best thing to do is be optimistic and be yourself and you too will meet someone is my philosophy. |

I agree with you and nrjizer. Adding to your lifecycle description of a relationship, my experience tells me that married women are much more likely to flirt with me than others - perhaps because their husband is already "tamed" and they look for new challenges.
And for those who said guys go for the looks: several studies have shown that it is more important to girls to have a socially accepted/admired boyfriend than it is to guys to have a socially accepted/admired girlfriend. |

Unfortunate, but most of the time true.
In my younger days, I was the preverbile 'Nice Guy'.
I never had a real problem talking to beautiful women (if they didn't have an attitude).
I learned quickly that women just want to be able to have a conversation without worrying about whether you're trying to get in their pants.
But I never really asked them out.
My thought was that if they were interested in me, I'd wait til I get some sort of green light before moving on; hey, no rejection that way right?
Problem is, I became that 'Nice Guy' that they could talk to when they had problems and that was IT.
It sucked and it didn't.
I mean, I become friends with some very great lookin' women and some very interesting ones too.
When it came to my now wife, I made the 1st move.
I initiated the conversation.
I suggested we go out to a club one night.
I pursued HER.
It took time but I was relentless with my patience.
She just came off a very bad relationship when I 1st met her, so my work was definately cut out for me.
What is worth it?
Absolutely.
Would I do it again?
Absolutely.
Sometimes, you have to step out, and NOT be yourself.
Surprise yourself.
I remember hearing a quote once that said, "Soon or later, we'll all eat at our own banquet of regret".
I remember that when I don't feel like doing something I know I should.
It's really worth it in the end...:D |

As if all women think, feel and act the same
I think a good deal of all the "men-women" problems would be disappearing if people started treating each other as individuals rather than groups ;) |

Lost me...how does one treat a one on one conversation as a group?
Are you talking about stereotyping? |

I suppose it's part of our instincts. We like girls who are visually attractive. |
uh, and girls bought 50 million copies of Backstreet Boys and Nsync albums because they have a good sound. No, they bought the albums to oogle over how cute they are... Girls are just like guys in this respect, especially the ones that plaster pictures of Nick Carter all over their bedroom walls... |

Attraction is one thing that gets guys going.. |
Same with girls... (of course NOT all girls :p) |
