Am I the only one around here who doesn't understand people from Northern Ireland? I had to ask Matt and Stu for help to try to figure out what these people are talking about :p

(Cryptic bit starts at the 0:54 mark)

And I watched Trainspotting without subtitles, for crying out loud, how can this be harder?!

Different to Leeds? Not especially. There is some variation across different parts of Yorkshire, but the nuances would be nigh-on imperceptible to anyone not from the area. I suppose the biggest difference is that York is more a wealthy, tourist-y city so the residents are probably better spoken on average.

Makes sense. I mean, they were themselves travellers in a way and probably well-educated (someone's father was in London for business), so this could be it.

I love how you don't even consider Glaswegian English English :p

(Ps.: I know what you originally meant though, and I'm only adding this to make sure no angry Scot will demand my scalp)

You should meet System-J and start a private party together.

Read my post again. I did not say anything about a private club.

If you're going to argue on here at least do us a favor and read our posts.

There are a few points worth making here. Firstly, the race angle. As I've already pointed out, you'd be getting just as much for talking like that if you were white, so the persecution complex isn't really relevant here. Not to condone some of the racist that gets said, but 90% of everything that gets levelled at you is probably because you talk in a racially stereotypical manner (and despite the fact everyone in your high school spoke like that, it is a black stereotype). So it's no more discriminatory than Pretty Fly For A White Guy.

In fact, race isn't really relevant and neither is your street cred. These are nice and easy lines of mockery for people to level at you, but the real reason people give you for how you talk is because it sounds ing stupid. You accuse everyone else of being close-minded for not realising that inner city kids all talk like cretins with one too many Wu Tang albums, but you've got it back to front. You are close-minded for thinking that sounds cool anywhere outside of some teenage graf crew in 1998. You are the one who can't see past the end of the street and realise that to people all over the world, talking like that sounds absolutely laughable.

I could come on this board and talk like the people I went to school with, but I'd get hounded off in five minutes for sounding like an unintelligible scrote. The first thing most smart people realise when they begin to socialise with people from around the world is that your little local vernacular is baffling small-minded gibberish to everyone who wasn't born within 10 miles of you, so you drop it and talk like an intelligent human being. Nothing, nothing sounds more small-minded than someone who speaks an obscure dialect and derives some kind of pride from it, as if the rest of the world gives a about where they grew up.

Anyway, I know this whole post is a waste of time, which is why I didn't bother to type it out for the chicken alt account earlier. It will certainly be lost on you, because anyone who gets to your age and still thinks talking like that is going to impress anyone is someone we file away under Lost Cause.

You don't seem to get inference, of your own posts no less. This seems to be a trend with you. So, what did you mean by "small party," comparing to this? Or why did you bring that up?

And there it is, EYK; you speak as if you're the only one who grew up in some ty urban sprawl, tagging trains, getting in scrapes with other gangs or the police - you're not unique, you're just one of the few who hasn't evolved from it, in the same way as jack's "wat u on about m8" is a prime example.

There's no escaping that what you aspire and identify with is black culture. It's no more ridiculous than if you grew dreads and talked like an asian rasta. It's not your culture, in the same way it's not mine, even though we both had somewhat similar cultural references and environmental pressures at exactly the same time.

Some friends of mine didn't evolve, if I see them now, I cringe to hear a white guy in his 30's say like "wha gwan, rudebwoy?".

It's when you put this in to geographical context; meet or talk to people who don't care; nor have any time or inclination to understand that you grew up listening to hip hop in some attempt to assimilate to your incredibly niche environment, that it comes across as absolutely ridiculous. It is a common thread with certain areas though.

I'm glad you spent the time to express your views on the way I express myself. I feel sorry for you that you view people who have an inner-city dialect as cretin. I'm glad your distinguishing the lines between what's acceptable to be posted here and how to address/reply to anyone who post whatever they want. You're saying you don't condone the racist but go on saying hey if the kettle sounds black call it black. I mean 90% of the that gets thrown my way is basically confirming that the COR is allowing for racism, ethnic slurs, bullying, it's no different then letting paulino stalk melly and we all know it's going on and yet somehow by allowing it, we're supporting it.

So you want to step out and prove in a long winded post that I'm getting what's coming my way by acting/posting a certain way? I'm going to highlight the fact that why don't we all just throw around racial slurs in every post since it's acceptable.

None of my post ever touches upon anyone's race, or where anyone comes from. I'm never the one to stand with the 90% and bash on one person and I don't ever ask anyone to come to my rescue when half the cor feels like they're defending pearl harbor when they address me.

And because I don't socially express myself as if i'm analyzing a green belt dmaic project doesn't mean I'm not well traveled or unintelligent, in fact those who know me in real life know the deal. Truth be told though, I know half of the leveled at me is because i can and will come off like an inner city kid who possesses enough professional and business acumen which I earned to be world traveled. You think i come on here needing to prove myself? Maybe some of you all do, I don't, this 's light work for me, mickey mouse time waster .

You think i want all your post on my facebook feed trying to get peeps to join the facebook group for TA. If you want me to translate this into a well thought out organized and concise reply, I don't do boy things.

I don't condone outright racism, and I'm sure you've experienced some genuine racism on TA. But making fun of you for your skin colour when you talk in a cringe-inducing racial stereotype is, like I say, something that's fair game no matter what your background. As I've already said, if you were white you'd be getting mocked on racial lines just as much.

I really doubt most people here even know your background. I don't have a clue what you do for a living, and I really don't care either. To most people in the COR you're probably just "That guy who talks like a plastic gangster".

It's pretty much Social Skills 101: pick a register that goes down well with your present company. If you don't get it, you never will.

Please forgive me if I had know you were Japanese I would have been more specific with my racist insults.

Btw it's confusing for us when you don't stay in character.

Nice to see that our constructive criticism went in one ear and out the other of your fat head.
