Over the past 3-4 years this genre seems to have come into existence, it's like a weird cross between electro house, progpsy and hardstyle. Is it called something different elsewhere? What do you guys reckon of it as a style? I reckon it's alright to dance to and is marginally better than most of the other popular electronic styles although lacks substance.

its crap

anywho ill just leave this here.

Mr.Mystery
It's like they took the most annoying parts of each genre and mashed them together.

what a load of gash. isn't this the kind of stuff tiesto plays at his very worst?

also, your hero luke chable sold out and is doing ultra cheesy fluff on aramda.

no hope left for oz :p
Light The Fuse
lol yes chable lost out bigtime in the great progressive house crash. musically in no mans land imo. he does some cool stuff that goes under the radar sometimes. good when he works with phil k.

we do however have steve ward, jamie stevens and gmj (all melbournians :) )

dammit carl cox lives here 6 months a year!

we are okay :p

i don't know why luke chable drifted over to the dark side. what an amazing waste of talent - it's horrendous what he's pumping out now. no decency to even work under an alias!

looks like 16-bit lolitas are going or have gone the same way. they aren't from australia though, still WTF.

It was a similar situation for a lot of producers toward the end of 2006- adapt and play the Armada game, or move on to other interests, occasionally dabbling in creating new music whenever your day job allows. I remember Max Graham went full blown Armada at this time, as did Andy Moor (not that he was ever all that far apart, but he definitely conformed to whatever direction the genre was headed, where he remains to this day). It's hard to imagine they actually take their own work and genre in which they do it seriously anymore, if for no other reason than how most of them have a back catalog of, like...'good sounding' music, but I think the old guard just kind of evolved into the same mindset: 'it's just about the fans now.'

I had to go check his newer stuff out, as I just couldn't believe it could be that bad.

Boy, was I wrong...

He probably wants to make more than $5 a year selling progressive.

2 years ago, I enjoy it.

Yeah but it's hard to believe money is all that much of a motivator for him, as how much more could he possibly make off trance than he did/could off prog? Even with his mainstream-(ish) signings and associations, he's still a third and fourth line billing, assuming he even tours at all. But he still gets to remain part of a very public scene, and maybe that's enough for him, as I can't imagine the financial difference between staying true and selling out is that huge of one.

i can understand they need to pay the bills, but christ.

they are making not only semi enjoyable fluff records (in the context of modern day trance scene i.e. a shadow of their former self at best) - but also incredibly records, complete with god awful vocals that they must be completely embarrassed about.

armada/anjuna sign these people... then what? their individuality seems to get outright stomped on. are they in effect a factory worker, banging out the flavour of the day? what's the point in signing them, then, in effect, doing nothing with them?!

i wonder what the deal is. there's obviously no way they aren't heavily guided by the label - and that is no artist i'm afraid. everything sounds cookie cutter... wouldn't be surprised if they were all given the exact same standard VSTs and mandate to work from - or that they are now ghost produced and are getting paid for their name.

max graham is another one, yes. he used to make superb progressive trance records. come on guys! :stongue:
