Borderline Personality Disorder.

Share your experiences, if any. How long have you been diagnosed with BPD. Are you male or female, where you sexually molested as a child? What medications are you taking, etc. Are you gay or straight or in between? Do you consider yourself sexually fluid.

Have you ever been in a relationship with a borderline persona? If so, how did it turn out?

Go.

Yes. Not good. I was frequently subjected to his odd and incoherent posts. I ended up putting him on my ignore list after which our relationship markedly improved.

I honestly don't understand what the is wrong with people.

All this navel gazing just to figure out what ing personality flaw you *might" have.

I was listening to a fascinating interview with the head shrink for the US army who said he looked at all the stats and found that around 40% of vets have been diagnosed with PTSD.

He said it was kinda amazing given that only 10% ever see active warfare.

I'm just gonna toss in a piece of "wisdom" my psychiatrist happened to offer.

She said that if any given person were to undergo a full and thorough evaluation that they'd leave with a diagnosis of "something".

Borderline Personality Disorder is a pretty serious condition though. I have a friend who suffers with it and she ended up getting sectioned for a while. It's not some pissy little neurosis.

EDIT: Also, we're talking about Lagrangiangiangian here. If anyone is legitimately mentally ill, it's this guy. I've heard that BPD can manifest itself in delusional thoughts and even hallucinatory images or sounds, which would explain large tracts of the nonsense he deposits on TA.

BPD is the most brutal personality disorder, imo. People with it are some of the most manipulative, attention whoring, needy, unstable people. Very draining in so many ways.

someone had to do it

Yes, BPD is a real thing. I have worked with quite a few patients who had it, in the acute care setting as well as psychiatric setting, and it is a ragingly obvious personality disorder.

People with BPD often have childhood histories of abuse (we're talking extreme abuse) and they therefore don't learn how to engage with people in an emotionally healthy way, or have a properly developed sense of self, among other things. These are very difficult people to engage with because even they don't know what the they need or want. This is beyond your average emotionally manipulative person or "psycho ex".

It's called "borderline" because diagnoses are based on symptoms, and symptomatically (back in the day when it was given the label, anyway) it was on the border between two other disorders.

There's a lot more to it, obviously, but that's the rough basics of it.

A few therapists have told my sister that's what she has.

She has immense daddy issues, abandonment issues and manipulates everyone quite a bit. She doesn't have a "master plan" though, so I doubt she's a psychopath or anything.

She gets into relationships as soon as the previous one ends, which is quickly, and is also an alcoholic. Frequently angles for a break-up for little to no reason.

She's so manipulative that her therapists often fall in love with her and just agree with whatever nonsense she spits out, and she's incredibly self-centered and spends nearly her entire day thinking about her problems but never does much about them unfortunately.

It's really hard to love my sister, not going to lie. Every time she's offered to help me with something (big or small), and she really WANTS to, she suddenly can't the day of.

Also every time she gets somewhat upset, she goes missing for a few days on a bender and re-appears suddenly. ty friends, and usually even tier ugly deadbeat boyfriends even though she's really good looking and looks like she's 25 even though she's 40.

Super insecure about her appearance, too. Gets regular waxing/laser treatments/whatever and does cross fit a billion times a week and only eats the healthiest stuff (which isn't a bad thing, but sort of for the wrong reasons because she drinks all the time and does coke to wake up and function so she can drink more).

Her current boyfriend is the first ever that isn't, for lack of a better word, a loser, but she's currently trying to break up with him but can't say why. It's not that she WON'T say why, she just can't.

She really needs to be sent to a psych ward or facility for intense treatment, but our laws really prevent my family from intervening.

I really feel that she needs to be seen by psychiatrists that deal with actual psychopaths, otherwise she will manipulate them and run away.
