So yeah, this happened. Been a while since the globe collectively facepalmed, but hey, America has a chance to go one better than the British later in the year!

Guys, I want to apologize directly and open to anyone living in Europe, as I may have inadvertently been responsible for this. You see, just yesterday morning before the vote, I was sharing with my coworker that after a long down-turn, my 401(k) was finally up 5.7% for the first quarter of 2016. I think by pointing this out I caused the exit, as Dow futures were already down 500 points on my drive in to work this morning. If I have caused you distress in any way, I sincerely apologize. :(

There was a video doing the rounds on the Guardian saying that Trump meant to be a protest candidate, and he figured he'd finish second among Republicans, but he didn't foresee the possibility he'd be the nominee.

And he's now a protest candidate protesting all over protests :D

Whether it's good or bad for the UK, good on them. Indifference was defeated for once. Had the same percentages been applied in a win for staying in the EU, indifference would have been what caused it.

Would like to hear what System-J thinks about this, as well as other UK TAs.

Good luck finding a Brexiteer. The only TA I know who considered leaving wasn't sure it was a good idea and failed to show up in the voting booth.

It's one of those weird elections in which it seems everybody voted for the losing side :p

I've never been much of a fan of Alex Samond, the former Scottish Prime Minister, but when he defeated Trump at each level of court, and then finally the highest court of the land (think supreme court), he was asked about Trump and came up with one of the best one liners, that witnesses said made Tump completely lose his :

"Trump? He's not once, not twice, but three times a loser".

In terms of the vote, I have no ing idea what happened - I literally do know have a single family member or friend that voted leave. It's bizarre to me.

As the stats are coming in one thing has become clear. Everyone under 44 leaned to remain (and the younger, the more) but sadly this directly correlates with lack of turnout demographics - in other words, younger people didn't vote in the numbers that they should have and again the younger they got the worse the turnout.

Opposed to old farts who have nothing to do but read the daily mail.

I am glad however David Cameron has gone. I've never much liked him and the fact his managed to lose this is enough reason for him to go. He did a terrible job of separating the issues at hand from fiction and Boris the twat thew him so many sitters that he just didn't capitalize on, so he deserves to leave.

I've been listening to a lot of BBC over the last 24 hours and although anecdotal, listening to the average "Leave voter's reasons vs Remain voter is very telling. From the former, they managed to blurt out gems such as "we get to control our borders now!" and "there'll be less foreigners", which was only just audible over the sound of their mouth breathing and knuckles dragging on the ground. From the remain voters, you got articulated answers such as"the freedom of movement and trade are important to our way of life, and leaving the EU does not solve our immigration or benefits issues etc"

I really don't think people understood what they were voting for.

Proof of that was something quite terrifying as announced by google - they said today, (he day after the vote) there was a record spike on in UK internet searches for the sentence:

"what is the EU?"

my life.

This is the impression I get from across the Atlantic. This should never have been a referendum.

And yeah, the older working-class voters have it:

Education can still mean you're ing retarded, Lira. So sick of that superior attitude bull :P And this is coming from an educated person.

Not sure when educated people started being issued black belts in arrogance with their degrees :p
