ing hell, moving flat has destroyed me. We spent ten straight hours today cleaning the old flat and hauling across town. Kicking back with Thai food and a bottle of Chang in a crazy little boutique joint straight out of Blade Runner.

Yep, I hear ya. Only gets worse as you acquire more stuff.

Next time I move I'm budgeting for a moving company. Not doing a move on my own/with friends again lol.

It's amazing how much we, as humans, acquire in the span of our relatively short lifetimes. My paternal grandmother passed away 12 days ago, just about a month shy of 91. My grandfather, her husband, passed away in the summer of 2002. Even living alone all this time, I was amazed at just how much stuff she had in the house. My dad and his sister have been working on cleaning up/out her house, and when I stopped by yesterday morning the only chair you could actually use for a seat was one at the kitchen table. I imagine that we in the "West" pile up enough in one lifetime to account for about ten lifetimes (or more) compared to the world's needy. And yet we get up and go to work every day to acquire "more". Who says marketing isn't effective...

3 straight weekends of back breaking yard work. Finally finished.

I said exactly the same thing. When I used to house share I'd move every year and it wasn't nearly as painful as this. Next time I'm hiring a big van crewed by some broad-backed bastards to haul all my for me.

Speaking of Thai food, I now live five minutes away from the Thai place we went to on NYE 2013, just before we went to see Jody Wisternoff. Almost four years ago now.

Removalists for the win, just watch them fairly closely. Those broad-backed bastards, as you put it, do not give a about your stuff, and will argue that "it was damaged like that when we picked it up". Choose a company that insures your belongings. Been through that the hard way.

Anything sensitive (computers, decks, music equipment, etc.) just move yourself.

I hate moving.

Yup. My friend just moved again and always uses (the same) moving company...and they "lost" her macbook, although they deny any knowledge of it whatsoever, of course. So despicable.

I did that the last time. Best decision I've ever made.
