My MP3s are o disorganized that its pointless to even start. I should've started to organize them from the begining, but oh well.:(
I have over 30 gigs and it would take me forever to organize all, plus i have no time to do so. But when i put songs on cds i usually include a text file that lists all the complete names of the songs. |

Imagine sorting through my collection which is currently @ over 200 gb =(
ive given up on it.
Just burn it on Cd's as per date and create a txt file on my hd so tht i know where each song is..
gonna make an excel database soon.. |

I backup all my mp3s usin cdrwin, never had a character limit problem with it like you do with nero! I used to name all my files like 'Lynx' but with the sheer volume of tunes i download now , its far to time comsuming. I recommend 'Media filename Convertor' made by DJ dawn a ta member for this job if you are particular about your file names.
When i burn each cd i make a text file for it usin a program called 'Directory Lister' then i just label it eg 001 002 and so forth, then i put all those text files in a folder with a program called 'Textster' which has a search function! So i can find any tune i want in seconds
hope this helps if not oh well:P |

C:/music folder/genre/Artist - track (remix)
Downloads go to c:/music folder/
As simple as that :D |

| My mp3's are disorganized, just like my room.;) For some reason though, I never have a problem finding anything. I'm just not anal about having everything in it's correct spot. To each his own I guess. |

Simple - I don't.
I just have all my stuff in 4 large folders... the only ones I DO organise are albums. |

I download all the new stuff into a new directory. Then listen to the tracks. If they're good, I'll keep them, otherwise its the recycle bin!
The, they all get renamed from 01_artist_-_title_remix_name-relgroup.mp3 to Artist - Track (Remix).mp3
Dont touch the ID tags
When I have about 4 Cds worth they then get catalogued and backed up to numbered discs. Just done 85,86,87&88.
At some point I'll then clear a load of not so good tracks from my HDD to make more space. |

Mp3z
...\Alternative
......\Albums
...\Dance
......\Original
......\Radio
......\Livesets
......\Albums
...\Others
......\Albums
Names like...
Artist - Tune (Remix if it's a dance tune).mp3
Artist - Title of Set dd-mm-yyyy.mp3
Then I burn em off when my hdd gets too full. |

The character limit is part of the ISO standard for burning data cds. So if cdrwin (which I've never used btw) is letting you have huge filenames then it's not conforming to the standard. Either that or it's truncating them without telling you about it.
Nero is often quite a bastard when it abbreviates particularly long tunes all to the same filename when truncated and complains when trying to burn.. grr. |

Format for singles:
Artist - Title (mix)
I fill up all the ID3 info that I can. I use uppercase for important words. I use & and abbreviations. For the artist names, I try to keep them short (ie: Armin instead of Armin van Buuren.)
Format for livesets:
DJ - Event - DD/MM/YY
ID3 info is filled up as much as possible.
Well, that's how I want to do it but I'm quite busy so only about half is actually like that but, it's getting better. |

| It depends on the song how I organize it. Generally speaking I organize my files by Artist - Song However for larger groups of songs I have such as trance, punk, anime or video games it goes Group Name(anime etc) - Artist - Song |
