OK I love what ive heard of techno which is very little, this thread is not about that though. Im sure everyone on this board has had people call trance "techno" or had any type of electronic music called techno by people who dont know any better. Heres what id like,
In words a description of techno and trance haha cuz i really draw a blank when some one asks whats the difference, I mean i know for myself by sound but its not really coming to words for me any one have any good lines/responses they use to this FAQ?
TeKnoHe@d2025
Most American's refer to any type of electronic music as "techno". Trance has more of a melody, which techno generally lacks.

Well ok whenever I take trance and break it down musically it's like it's structured throughout, there is a melody you can pinpoint, a baseline that you can follow etc, with techno it's structured as well except for the melodic part, it's just more harsh, doesn't really have a part of a track where you can say ok here's the good part, because it's allllllll good. The "melodic" part of a techno track to me is spread out throughout the entire track and flows that way. I could be WAY off but that's just what I think...

yeh all americans think any electronic music is techno.
so annoying

techno : beats
trance : uplifting

no long speech is going to help them understand so just use these two words

yeh, pretty much every1 else has summed it up, but if u want my two cents, then techno is usually pretty fast, uses a very basic melody, if any at all, and very hard, fast & rough beats. Whereas trance has easily distinguishable parts, the intro, the build up, the melody, the breakdown, then the conclusion.............in techno those 5 things are all usually intermixed 2getha lol.......thatz y i personally dont like techno, the closest i'll go to it is Umek. I downloaded Chris Liebing - Live @ Mayday 2002, and thru out the whole set, it all sounds the same to me:rolleyes:

Roflmfao im using this im going to draw it every time some one asks me now lmfao that is great man. Usaully i say that trance has more melody and structure where are techno has a more simple layout lacking any form of melody. Yes America, "You like trance, what is that?" "oh is that like techno stuff, like Moby?"
Actually Moby - In this world (Push mix)
ing owns heh but thanks for that drawing man im still laughing im deffinently going to use that omg that was good.
