Just hook your TT up to your comp, using an adaptor cord that goes from a RCA (Red and White[or black in some cases]) to a normal earphone jack (small one). But you need to hook this up to your mixer and stil play the record through the mixer. I'm not sure if you can just hook the TT straight up to the comp, because of grounding and everything.
Then I just plug it into the input in my comp, and use a program called "Messer" to record the song, that is being played on the TT.
It's simple once you do it once or twice. If you don't have a mixer then I'm not sure but if you have a mixer then just get one of those cords and go for your life.
PS You can download Messer from www.download.com
Hope this helps (and I hope I didn't confuse you!)

hmm
what is this 'mixer' of which you speak? :)
i must investigate.
also...
does it matter what decade your turntable was made in? :) (or century now hehe) |

Mixer = You know a mixer, mix 2 tracks together, 3 channel, 2 channel, EQs what DJs use.:p
And I'm not sure about the turntables. Mine are new, not sure about old ones.
Sorry

He's talking about a DJing mixer. There are a gazillion on the market (perhaps not that many, more like a hundred) which you can buy. For example, I have a Pioneer DJM-300. Anyway, a DJ mixer has your inputs (ie CD/vinyl) and a couple of outputs, one of which could plug into your computer using a standard dual RCA -> 3.5mm stereo converter.
Then you just have to set up your line levels so it's not too soft or distorted and you're all ready to record in messer.
And no, it doesn't matter what decade your TTs were made in. Only the record matters. Older records are a lot softer and hence you'll have to increase the gain in order to make the level adequate.
Hope that helps ya Philby! |

My bad :( You know we should really come up with a TA standard for sarcasm. Like everytime you say something sarcastic you don't put the standard smiley, you put the sticking out tongue smiley instead (:p) |
