Paul van Dyk drunk? seems impossible...

I like Paul van Dyk a lot and he plays terrific tunes but the way he performed his set on Mayday has a lot of people think he was drunk.
I know he said he doesn't do drugs or drink alcohol, but I was standing 10 meters from him at MAyday and he acted kinda strange.
The way he mixed makes you wonder....
At the end of the set he threw a record in the crowd. I never seen Paul van Dyk do that (shy guy).
I have seen him live at 2 Maydays, 3 Loveparades, Innercity and some small parties and he just wasn't like he normally is.
what is going on?
does someone got an idea?
Anyway, the mixing mostly sucked, but the tunes he picked rocked the place! |

i thought it was amazing how he played with it..
if ya ask someone like Starfox, he'll tell ya the exact same..

| okay, i just heard this the other day(pvd's set from mayday 01) and i know from experience it sounds very farmiliar to a drunk dj... i haave also never heard him play that way workin the fader hehe i dunno, usually i love when paul van dyk works the cross fader to like a blanks silence then back over but he kinda over did it on this set... just my opinion |

| yeah i hear what you are saying...i dunno if he was drunk...lol. maybe he wanted to try something new? i dunno...yeah i also think he went a tad bit overboard with the fade to silence bit. *shrugs* i dunno...but bottom lining it...he still did a great job and that's all that counts in my book. |

| At Twilo in Apr PvD threw a copy of "For an Angel" into the crowd....I guess its a new tradition for him. And maybe he was just in a weird mood that nite....he is human. A friend of mine saw him doing the "swim" up in the booth at twilo...so maybe he was just letting his quirkiness come out? Oh did anyone see the members of mayday vid for 10in01?? Paul and Natasha...his wife for those that dont know...are in it and they kiss...its soo cute...they are sooo much in love! |

yeh you are right. It does look cute.
The thing is I always thought Paul was gay.
But when I saw that I realised I was wrong all the time.
The video of 10IN01 was shot during Mayday 2000 (datapop)
Just thinking he has a great taste of music and woman.

| I only just downloaded this PVD Mayday set and thought the same thing! Definately not his usual mixing style, and the scratching was a little all over the place in some areas. Although I do like how he was playing with the fader on Flight 643, that got the crowd going. BTW what's that amazing track at about 43:00 or so minutes? It's absolutely sweet. Is there a tracklisting thread on the forum about this yet? *too damn lazy to look* |

PvD is the ing best.
and will always be the best.
and if he throws a vinyl into the crowd, it means how much he loves them and appreciates how the got so into his set.. so he rewards them with that :D
