Here's my definition, although I'm not being biased even though i like trance more than progressive.
Trance- More upbeat, energetic, and has "action" to it. It appeals to the masses. Easy to get up and dance. (ex: Don Diablo - Acceleration(Svenson & Gielen remix)
Progressive- Usually slower, a bit moody sometimes, but more "Intelligent". You have to kind of listen to a prog song a bit more and then you understand it more. It's one of those styles that after a while you realize how it sounds. (ex: James Holden - Nothing) |

I think that DJ_Skaya gave a pretty good description of progressive.
On a diffrent note, am I the only one who's getting sick and tired of all these stupid arguments between trance and prog lovers? |

As for the arguments, I'm pretty sick of them. I love them both, and people talk about them as if they are interconnected with each other in a strong way, but they really aren't for the most part. I mean, it's really not much more similar to trance than house or tribal is. As the old saying goes, "It's like comparing apples and oranges".
I also agree with Benfica in that progressive requires a little more listening. It is definitely an acquired taste, but that doesn't make it any better or worse than trance! |

This forum is turning into some hellhole because of prog vs trance, blah blah blah, give a god damn rest would ya? It's ing progressive, another genre, you don't have to be flaming others, just respect their own taste like they do to you, as for every topic that has the word progressive, there's always some idiot trying to fight/defend on which blah blah blah is better, holy we've had enough of this, don't you guys get the god damn point, WHO GIVES A !?!?!?

Lets stop trashing other genres. They are both dope. Everyone on here needs to respect eachothers opinions. THINK BEFORE YOU POST. If you think your post(opinion) is gonna start a bull thread, please refrain from posting.
All it took was one post to start an argument. . Progheads, d/l some trance and tranceheads, d/l some prog.

OK, First of all to be honest the actual term of "Progressive House" doesnt really exist. (Wiseguys try to ignore my status line :))
Theres Tribal House, Deep House, Funkey House, Garage House, Soul House.
Progressive is sort of an invention of the past few years.
Anyway, it differs from Trance becuase in progressive there are no rules, sure you got to follow the 4x4 pattern but you can do almost everything you want in your track, take en example from Sasha who comes up with a different style of track each time.
In Trance there is some obligation to follow the traditional foundations of the track so that it wont be immidiatley cancelled by the listeners, not in House, the whole point is that its innovative and you never know what to expect.
These I think are some pretty important differents between these 2 genres.
BTW, Adi dont waste youre time arguing with that idiot, hes just one of them Hitler fans, if he doesnt like the fact that this forum contains allot and i mean ALLOT of jewish members he can up pick his sorry ass and leave. |

| i think that there should be a sticky thread with all of the definitions of progressive, uplifting, trance, house etc. Make all of this with definitions that aren't slanted and then close the thread. That would solve all of this prog vs uplifting fighting |
